Would you believeeeeeeeeee that I have actually taught myself to knit! Well with the generous help of all those utube vidios out there! some of the knitting sites have some great ones too! Anyway I have managed to learn to cast on and knit. Next comes the pearl stitch! They tell me that once you learn both these stitches you can do anythingggggg. I love chrochet too and have been chrocheting hats like crazzy for the grandkids. By the time I arrive there in september the snow season will be just around the corner so I know that they will come in handy. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh I ordered some Harmony knitting needles. I have heard so many good things about them on the knitting forums that I have to try them.
So far I have finished a scarf welllllllllllll I still need to add the fringe but thats no biggy. and I have a couple of dishcloths going and another scarf. can you tell I am getting into this knitting thing! My poor quilting has been completely ignored this past few weeks. its a good thing I finished all the grandbaby's stuff before I got into this new hobby. In a couple of weeks we are going to start beading at the church craft group so that should also be interesting.
I was laying in bed this morning thinking about my little house and how full of stuff it is" Kerrie you poor thinggggggggggg! If anything ever happens to us you are either going to have to hold one gigantic yard sale or make several trips to the dump. I realyyyyyyyyyyy need to start going through things before I get too old to do it and get rid of some of these things. I don't know why we brought everything that we did all the way down here from Idaho. O.k.......... enough depressing thoughts!
Doug is going to make brats with beer on the grill today and I thought I would make some zuchinnie couse couse to go along with that. Its so nice to just stay home today. This past week has been soooooo hectic.
I went to craft group at the church on monday and following that a couple of the ladies and I go to the senior center to knit. well then we leave there and go store hopping and usually follow up with something to eat. welllllllll I decided to drive and I never ever have problems with my car. It still only has very few miles on it because every place I drive is mostly short distances. welllllllllllll wouldn't you know we went into big lots and came out and the car wouldn't start. so I called hubby and he came down to jump the battery. wellllllll it started but nothing ran like the lights, wipers ect. sooooooooo we jumped on the freeway and headed for ford which is not far from there. we dropped it off and they called that nite and said that the batter had a bad cell and had burned out the alternator. sooooooooo the following day we went to get it and they said they had replaced the alternator " doug asked them for the battery so that he could take it back to where he bought it and get it replaced since it was still under warrenty. the guy told him ohhhhhhh the battery was fine. so off we went and after dropping doug at home I went grocery shopping. luckily I had stopped off and had my perscriptions filled and filled the gas tank before the groceries, because on the way home the battery lite came on. once I got home doug checked it and said he would call them in the morning. well we started driving it in the next moring and doug said whatever you do" don't turn anything on. sure noooooo problem! well when we got to the corner I automatically turned the blinker on to turn. wrongggggggggggggg!!! so it kept driving but a few miles up the road it gave out so thank god for cell phones ! we called and they sent a tow truck. This battery had burned out the new alternator sooooooooooooo they took it back and put in another alternator and we took the battery back and got a new one. sooooooooo now I finally have my car back again. ya knowwww being without a car drives me nuts! Its surprising how dependent we are on our vehicles even if we don't want to go any place just knowing they are sitting there waiting for us means a lot!
O.k. other then all that excitement we have been getting some produce from the garden. a few zuchinnies , some cuke cumbers and a couple of tomatoes and peppers. yummmmmmmm
Right now I am looking out my craft room window at our hanging geranium. we have two little brown birds that have decided to build a nest in it". not sure how we are going to water it now but will have to do it very carefully. I was suprised that they would build one in a plant but they seem to be working feverishly to get it done. I am glad they picked the one in front of my window as it is very interesting to watch them. If I worked half as hard my house would be spotless! Take care untill next time.

O.k. Normally I never post the day after a post " Not because I don't want too but usually if I am not too busy " I just don't have anything new to add. welllllllllll I just got home from the school dinner and let me tell you! I had something I have never had before. The girls all teased me when I asked what it was because as they reminded me if I were a true southerner I would know these things" Anywayyyyyy Its called chew bread and you guys just have to try it! It resembles a brownie in looks but thats where it stops. I just happen to get the recipe from the catering group. yummmmmmmmmm!!! Here goes. Did I also say it is super simple""""
1 stick butter
1 box brown sugar
2 eggs
2 c. self rising flour
1 tsp vanilla
1 c. chopped nuts They used wallnuts but I will use pecans Thats another word I get teased about" where I come from we pronounce them pecons and here they say pecans Hubby just tells them pecans is something you pee in. I knowwwwwwww thats soooooooo bad!
o.k. back to the recipe. "
Melt your butter and add sugar, remove from heat, add eggs one at a time, beating after each addition, add flour, one cup at a time, add vanilla and nuts . bake in a 13x9x2 inch greased pan at 350 degrees for 20- 30 minutes. yummmmmmmmmm

Hi everyone" Its sunday!

Thought I would try and make a quick post before I get ready for church. I managed to get my tablerunner finished and just love it! I have decided to start collecting fabrics for baby quilts maybe just quarter yard pieces to use for the quilt as you go strip method. that is sooooooooo easy and so much fun! I am thinking it would be adorable to make them and then applique some cute animal on each one. They are easy enough to make that I could make a couple and have them ready for the next baby quilt that I need. sorry the photo looks so dark on one end. not sure why maybe because it was early in the morning.

Have also been teaching myself to knit and found this wonderfull vidio that explains it step by step. so this morning I actually got serious and managed to get three or four rows down. (not even oneeeeeee slipped stitch! this is amazingggggggg. Have still been working on hats. I have decided that I will watch the sales and start picking up soft yarns as I found a couple of neat hat patterns for cancer patients and would like to start making them as I think they may be able to use them.

Lets see what else has been going on. ohhhhhhhhhh I finally broke downa nd bought a mandavilla??? think that is what it is called. These are sooooooo gorgous. Everyone has told me that they won't come back because they cannot withstand the winter and that they are an annual. mine is still in a pot so we might try and take it in this winter and see what happens. That is something I do love about living here is the flowers are soooooooo gosh darn gorgous!

We picked our first two zuchinnis from the garden yestarday and fried them up with cornmeal and flour dipped in egg. yummmmmmmmm I also made a new recipe I found for sour cream lemon pie but would you beleive after getting the filling all cooked and the whipped topping all made " I discovered that my pie crust from the freezer was not any good any more. I acutally had my hair in rollers which I do about once a week " I knowwwwwww terriably old fashioned (especially for a cosmetologist) but I am one of those people that my hair just won't hold a curl with a curling iron for very long unless I put a can of hairspray on it. sooooo here I stand with no way to go to the store and get another one. Why don't I just make one you say.? welllllllll by this time I am beat, have been doing laundry and dishes all morning long all the usual things you have to catch up on when you only have one day at home to get it all done and I said to heck with it. I put everything into covered containers and into the fridge so today I will pick up some of my favorite shortbread crusts and we can have it for desert tonite.
Lets see" I think that is about all that is going on right now. Monday will be clean up day at school and after that it is church crafts and then race back home as the principal is throwing a dinner for all of us to say good by for the school year. You all take care untill next time.

Well its the last week of school yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Vacationnnnnnnn I think" maybe not as I seem to work just as hard around the house as I do if I am working although this way I won't be doing both".

Have not written much lately as there hasen't been a lot to write. Have been doing normal activities, like going to bible study, going to church and church crafts. Its gardening time again and we are patiently waiting for everything to mature. We have grapes , blueberries and strawberries ooops almost forgot the rasberries. I am sooooooooo looking forward to the tomatoes and squash getting ready.

I somehow got a big burst of energy this weekend and managed to finish two of my granddaughters quilts , my lap quilt and started a quilt as you go tablerunner. those are soooooooooo fun and easy! To make one all you do is lay your backing right side down on your table , then spray with a little bit of adhesive spray. apply your batting and now you are ready to start adding your strips. You can cut them any size you want or mix and match if you like also. take the first strip and lay it right side up at the edge of your runner. make sure this one is straight. stitch it down on one end then take your next strip and lay it on top of the previous strip face down and stitch it down. then fold it back and press it. continue overlapping them untill you get to the end. poof! you have pieced and quilted it all in one step. now all you have left is to bind it. I have mine by my chair right now and will bind it while watching t.v. The new granddaughters quilt is very special because her mom and I planned it out together just like we did with the last one. That makes it so much more fun!

The other thing I have been doing is chrocheting hats for the grandkids. Now let me tell you something I discovered duhhhhhhhhhhh that I should have figured out long ago and would have saved me a ton of work!
I hate trying to bend over on the floor to put quilts together so a few years ago" I started doing them on my bed which meant less bending. wellllllll it hit me when I went to put these together whyyyyyy not put them together on the kitchen island???? I did ! And let me tell you from here on out that is the only way I will everrrrrrr do them again. what a great idea! Have any of you figured this one out already? sooooooooo easy. The pinning and layering was super simple ! will never do it the old way again.

Well I just finished taking the brownies out of the oven that I made earlier so I had better go cut a piece for hubby before he dies of starvation! Take care untill next time"

Well here it is monday again and I am posting. hmmmmmmm beginning to notice a habiit I have of posting on mondays. wonder why that is? Oh well I digress"

First of all the kindle is working out great! I have already managed to read four books ". Now I need to get back to some sewing. I have managed to get the top of the baby quilt up on the design board but not sure they are arranged the way we want them yet. Will compare notes with kerrie before I put them together.

Have also managed to finish another doll quilt top " It is ready to quilt.
Besides that we have been extreemly busy with church. It seems like every weekend lately we are having craft fairs, motorcycle rides for cancer , runs for cancer or barbeques to earn money for the new roof. andddddddd yestarday I decided enough was enough and started to straighten out my sewing room. I was sooooooooo good " even I couldn't belive it! I have this huge laundry type of bag hanging on my closet door that I am throwing all my little scraps in to get out of the way. then one day I will empty it out and cut them into manageable pieces. The other material I started folding neatly and stacking by color. after I got through several stacks I realized I have absolutely noooooooo where to put them. so I stopped. I think what I might do hopefully this week if time permits " is move everything out of my closet and store it out in the trailer which has become our storage unit ( very expensive storage unit) anyway since that is all it seems to be used for these days I might as well make room for shelving in my closet to stack my material on. That would open up a lot of room and make my sewing room soooooooo much neater. I have tried other methods but nothing has worked. This might even give me some extra space to clean out some of my overflowing bookcase. I know that when my sewing room is cleaned to where I can actually find what I am looking for " I am much more likely to sew. so wish me luck ' maybe it will get done this week!

Did everyone have a nice mothers day? I talked to all of my kids and the only thing that would have made it better is if they could have been here with me." I am sooooooo envious of all you people out there that get to have yours with you on special days like that. I miss so much" living so far away like we do".

O.k. lets just start with that great little kindle my hubby bought for me" would you believe that we couldn't use it to download books? well apparently there are three different ones and the one we bought you have to have wifi to download with. Why dosen't someone tell you these things. I thought maybe he didn't read far enough but when I went back and looked you really had to look hard to find out this information. Anyway the old one is being sent back and the new one will be on its way .
This has been an absolutely crazzy week. We have a beloved pet cat that we have had for almost nineteen years now. Welllllllll she suddenly came down with an eye that looked completely dead that was not showing her iris at all and her neck was completely bent in one side long direction. She could not stand up by herself and so she quit eating and drinking. This all started yestarday. Well needless to say I spent most of the nite sitting up with her because she kept crying . Hubby and I talked about it this morning and decided that she must have had some kind of a stroke and we would take her in just as soon as I got home from work and have her put too sleep. We didn't want her to suffer. Welllllllllll when we got to the vets office she said she didn't belive it was a stroke that was something that didn't usually happen to kitty cats and wanted to take some quick blood work. so we said go ahead. she came back out and all of her blood work looked good so she told us that she was pretty sure that it was an inner ear infection. I would have neverrrrr beleived that something like that could cause so much damage. She said the ear has lots of nerves involved and that is probably why the eye is rolled back into her head and the reason she can't stand up is because of the balance thing. sooooooo she said she would keep her tonite and give her plenty of fluids, antibiotics and ear drops. hopefully by tomorrow she will be getting back to normal. We were sooooooooooo releived. we had both gone in crying and expecting to take her home and bury her and instead she is being fixed and we will be able to enjoy her for years to come we hope". I actually said a prayer late last nite that God not let her suffer but this is sooooooo much better. and we are both sooooooo thankfull!

O.k. I am off to hunt for an applique giraff for my newest granddaughters quilt. Today I found some of the cutest little onsies and did I tell you that I made a big girl blanket for the youngest so she won't feel so badly moving into her todlers bed.

The church craft bazar went well yestarday" We were a bit worried because of the air show that was schedualed at the base as they expected well over three thousand people to attend But at the last minute thunder storms moved in so they had to cancel. problably a good thing they did because after that the tornado warnings started. one touched down in Raleigh and caused quite a bit of damage. Once I got home from church we were on tornado warnings most of the afternoon and evening. Anyway I got tirid of sitting there watching the news on them so went into my room and decided to play around with the kindle cover. before I knew it" I had managed to get it completely finished.
I have also come to the conclusion that I really need to pick up a container for all of these cords. I have cameral cords, kindle cords, music cords ect. ect. I think I should get one gorgous box to keep all of them in and mark the name of each one so I know what they are for. O.k. guess I had better get through the rest of my mail so that I can get ready for church. take care untill next time"

I really do owe you all who follow my blog an apology" I have been so busy between church , sewing for the new grandbaby, work and cooking that I just don't seem to take the time to get here and post like I should.
This has been one heck of a winter for sickness also. It seems like between my hubby and I we have just been going back and fourth with respiratory infections.
Yestarday I ran all over trying to find something to wrap candy in that I am making for the churches craft fair which we are having tomorrow. I finally found some cute little easter bags to put it in. Today after work I drove to the church to help them get everything out on the floor. what a job! and tomorrow I will go in and man the goody table. (not a bad job) But I bet I will be the busiest one there! I made up bags of chocholate peanut butter balls and from what the other ladies are bringing we should have lots to sell. I am conemplating making a loaf or two of beer bread because it is so easy and fast and I am at the point now where I am beat. Wonder how that would go over at the church lols

Lets see what have I sewn lately that you haven't seen. ? ohhhhhh I made a little diaper bag for my daughter just one of those you throw a few diapers in and once my granddaughter saw it she immediately said ohhhhhh grandma made me another purse ! so you know what I stayed up that nite making.
Then I managed to make a couple of bibs for the new baby. I did them in blues and browns because we thought it might be a boy but Girls still ruleeeeeeeeee so will have to make some up in purples as the other granddaughter informed her mama that pink is herrrrrrr color. Shes only two so there might be a little bit of jelousy.
I have been looking at other blogs and the circle thing has been all over every where sooooooooo I got on the band wagon and made a lap quit top. I say top because that is as far as I got as other things kept getting in the way which is o.k. because I sure won't need it around here untill next winter.
The next two projects will be a cover for my new kindle that hubby bought me for our anniversary. Hes so sweet he got it for me early because I didn't want to buy another book" knowing that I was going to get it next month. I am also working on another baby quilt for the new baby. My daughter always laughs at me because I usually make each new baby enough darn quilts to keep them warm for a lifetime. Anyway this one is a work in progress not too mention the one I am making for her and hubby. I swear no wonderrrrrrrrrr I never get any time to blog" I am always doing something! lols
Linda wrote and asked me if I had finished my embroidered kitty " The kitties are done but the flowers aren't and from the looks of it they probably won't be for awhile. I have a dear friend in Australia who is always sending me patterns and I would dearly love to get busy and do some of those too. Well we get an easter break so I am hoping the new joanns in Greenville will be open by then so that I can go check out the material. would like to make the new baby some washclothes and other things . Who ever said life slows down as you get older didn't know what they were talking about. I am busier now then I was when I was younger. It seems like there is always something to do or some place to be!
O.k. I am off again and I will really try to do better but no guarantees. Life just does what ever it wants too"

Just a few words to let you know I am still around. Have been busy doing laundry today and baking bread. Found a new bread recipe on one of the many blogs I am always searching through. Baked four loaves much to my hubbys glee" Did I mention that he is a bread lover" And in between I managed to finish one of my stitcheries that I started some time ago.
Right now I am getting ready to go to a church valentines dinner tonite. They are supposed to have some music for us too so it should be fun. Thats about all that is going on right now. I knowwwwwww not much excitement but I kind of like it that way. lols Excitement can be reallyyyyyy over rated.

Just finished making another mugmat and I bought two cute cups filled with candy for the perfect valentine gifts.
Last nite I was up late making chocholate peanut butter candies for my grandkids and daughter and son in law in Spokane. Had planned to send them candy at christmastime but as with all christmases time seems to get away with you" so valentines day seems like a good day to make up for it.

As for my previous post on the potatoe bags I am one potatoe bag short well two actually. one was sent to my daughter and the other one my hubby managed to burn up in the microwave along with the microwave. He baked a potatoe which turned out beautifully and then he managed to set the potatoe bag on a wet counter and decided that he could simply throw the empty bag into the microwave and dry it"Mennnnnnnn! well he smelled something burning and when he came into the kitchen both the microwave and the bag had burned sooooooo I wound up with a newer and better microwave. much more powerfull one. Now lets hope that I have him convinced to use the dryer to dry things instead of the microwaveeeee.

Haven't decided what to work on next. Ohhhhhhh I did order a new book that has come out called scrap basket sensations thanks to my friend maria who sent me the picture of the book. It looks interesting so hopefully it will be". I am not buying nearly as many books as I once did because I find that usually there is only one or two patterns in the book that I want to make. Seems to be the same thing with quilt magazines but for some reason I can't seem to resist a couple of monthly subscriptions of those. O.k. enough talk" I am off to check some of the blogs for some more inspiration" .

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh I almost forgot" My daughter called and she goes in for her ultrasound on valentines day so hopefully we will have an idea whether we are going to have a boy or a girl. yesssssssssssssss!!!!!!

Just thought I would try and get a quick post in today. We were discussing bordom at work today and for the life of me" I cannot understand how anyone can be boredddddddddd. There is just tooooooooo much to do all the time and to many places to go. We have spent three days at church this week and between that and work I seldom have time to do anything. I did however manage to stitch up three potatoe bags and a doll quilt so I am getting something done.
I am hoping to find some time this weekend inbetween the church valentines dinner and laundry ect. ect. to get the baby quilt put together with a batting and backing so that I can hand quilt it. will just have to see how the time goes.
Still anxously waiting to find out whether our newest grandchild will be a boy or a girl so that I can get busy and start sewing . Wellllllll I think that is about all there is to write about right now. I am thinking seriously about re joining our quilt guild so may have more to add later. Take care

Needle cases for the church craft group"

Its about time I am getting out of my no sewing mode " which alwasys happens after christmas. I think there is just soooooo much sewing to get ready for christmas that by the time its all over with we are exhausted. Anyway I digress" As many of you already know I joined a new church a few months ago and I have been involved in the craft group. It simply amazes me how much of the financial responsibility comes from these ladies. They make money from the crafts we sell at bazars and pay for building extra rooms on to the church ect. ect. so besides having fun we are actually doing something for our church and community.

Anyway the president of our group was going over the rules last week and said that we all need to carry a bag of our own with our own supplies such as scissors, glue sticks, paint brushes, needles thread ect. things that we might need to work on different projects. they also have things there for us to use but its nice to have our own available in case what we need isen't there. SO I got to thinking it would be nice to have a little needle book to keep my needles in. welllllllllll that made me think gee Linda you could make one for each of the other crafters so that is what I did this morning. Ohhhhhhhhhh my Gosh! Have I got newssssssssss I am going to be a grandma once againnnnnnnn by none other then my daughter and babyyyyyyyyy Kerrie: Number five will be born on or about septemeber first! I am soooooooooo excited for her and me! This time I hope to actually be there while she has the baby. Every other baby I have not been able to be there either because of work or distance. I came very close with the first one and only missed him by minutes but this one I am hoping to be there on time. This will make eleven grandkids and two greats between us. wowwwwwwwww who would have everrrrrrrr thought".

I know its been awhile again since I have posted but it seems like there is always something going on and its just hard to get here each day. I think I mentioned not too long ago that I found a new church that I really like. Well hubby has even taken an interest in it so we spend a bit of time there between going to dinners, my craft group and last week we offered to help clean as it is a very small congregation so they do not hire anyone to come in and clean so the members take turns signing up. we signed up for the next three months to clean the nursury. Wouldn't you know the day we were supposed to clean I had to work late so Hubby got to go and clean by himself. He said he had a nice time as there were others there cleaning and they all sat around and visited with coffee afterwards. so I don't feel quite so bad.

Have you all heard about the mugrugs going around? these are sooooooooo cute! I have been wanting to make some forever and this afternoon I finally got around to making one. I mentioned to kerrie that I wanted to make some and she said it would sure be nice if I made one that was coffee themed hint hintttttttt so thats what I did. The fabric is actually much brighter then it is shown here. not sure why the picture came out so dull but its cute! These are larger then a coaster so that they will hold your cup of coffee or tea and a couple of cookies, or a cupcake, doughnut you get the ideaaaaaa anyway I just love them. Would like to get some made up for christmas next year. I bought some valentines fabric yestarday at the fabric barn so I might have to make a few more.
Lately I have been in a no sewing mood. It always seems to hit me after christmas is over with" I think I am just plain worn out. But it is gradually comming back too me so I have a stack of things that I would like to work on. Ohhhhhhhhhhh I am even going to teach myself to knit. My daughter in law bought me a bag of yarn with a beginners book , cd, needles ect. so today I sat down and watched a vidio on continental knitting which I love. after watching all the other methods I think this is the one for me. I already have some thread casted on to the needle so its a beginning. I still have my afghan waiting to be chorcheted too. 'Have been working on my grandmothers flower garden blocks . Welllllllllll guess I had better get off this thing as it is getting late and I have been in here most of the day doing one thing or another. take care untill we meet again.

Decided I had better get in here and make a post before christmas is over with. As usual have been busy and not feeling well besides. seems like this time of year I am always comming down with some type of upper respiratory infection. Luckily I am on the mend again now so hopefully christmas will be back to normal.
Have not done a lot of sewing since the church craft fair. That went fairly well considering the fact that we were rained out.

This week I did manage to get some candy made. I took the easy route and made simple candy that didn't take a lot of time or work. We went shopping one more time to finish up on all the grocery items for christmas eve. I just want to wish each and every one of you a very Merry christmas! And hope you get everything you have wished for.

Hubby got me my exercise program and board for the wii game. I am having a blast with it! oops for those of you who are not related to us " We always open our gifts a couple of days before christmas. We started it once all the kids were gone. We were always in places that were too far from the kids so there was no body around on christmas so we made a game of it and would open one each nite untill christmas eve and then we would open the last one. Well now we are near Dougs son and grandkids and great gransons so we do have them come over and open gifts on christmas eve but we are still in the habbit of doing it soooooooooo I already have everything opened lols we are sooooooooo bad! Seriouslyyyyyy I am not sure where in the heck all the time goes but it does! Have been busy between work, church, hollidays, doctors you name it something is always going on.

Anyway Have also been busy with quilting. This one is finished except for adding the bat and the backing and quilting it. Have also been cleaning my sewing room . Now let me tell you that most people would look and say you what????????? but beliveeeeee me compared to what it was this is clean!

This time of year is a time for making gifts also. I drew one of the ladies names in my church craft group and made this christmas stocking for her" Will also try and pick up a basket and make some homemade bread to add too it. Have also been trying to make a few things at home for the upcomming craft fair besides what we make at the craft class. These are some kleenex holders and burp cloths.

Then I drew one of the girls names at work so I found this adorable cookie jar filled with sugar cookies.

Have also been busy working on hand items. My ripple afghan has not grown a lot but my grandmother flowers garden is gaining headway. I have quite a pile of them and as if that weren't enough hand work I have started appliqueing them to squares. I wanted something different then the traditional grandmothers flower garden. and last but not least sometime ago I started a small wallhanging to go on my daughters kitchen wall to cover up an ugly fuse box so while cleaning up my sewing room I found it again and have managed to get it quilted this morning on the machine and the binding is ready to be stitched down. Gee its amazing what you can accomplish when you clean up your sewing room. I just hope I can keep it this way. I don't know about you but once I get it cleaned up " I am more eager to work in it.

Yup its me again" I knowwwwwwwww its been forever since I have posted. But to be totally honest my life has been a roller coaster lately. Between hubby getting stung by a bee and winding up in the hospital then comming down with pnemonia . Have also had a visit from my stepdaughter Kellie and it seems like every time I turn around something else comes up. I don't know who ever said that once you retirid life was slow" But they were wrong. I am not retirid yet but hubby is and believe me between doctor visits and picking up perscriptions he could stay busy 24 hours a day. I am actually hoping to get some time to rest or sew or whatever I want too tomorrow after I get home from work. Hubby has to go for a voting class. He is one of those who works at the election booths and each year they have to go take a new class.

Now even though I haven't posted I have actually been busy with different projects. I am beginning to think that I have a compulsive quilting disorder. I can't stop with just one project! I am never happy unless I have ten going on at one time. To be quite honest I get bored to tears with only one project. Now I know I would be much more likely to finish if I would stick with one but I just can't do it. The minute I see something new that I want to try I am off in another direction. Right now I am working on a square in a square quilt for my daughter which you have already seen pics posted. Also an afghan for our living room which have also been posted. You are saying hmmmmmmmm thats not so bad. wellllllllll I am also working on a bowtie quilt , two embroideries, a grandmothers flower garden and have just recently started putting nine patch blocks together.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh I also won some fabric from Ellies blog sorry I don't have the addy handy but it is a german blog and a very nice lady. she wanted suggestions on how to find time to sew when you were always busy and I came up with about eleven or twelve idea's all of which were put in a jar and her son or grandson drew my name. yesssssssssssss!

We just got home from some shopping at the base and since halloween is comming up we bought some candy. Now we live out in the middle of nowhere so we don't have any tricker treaters other then the great grandsons so I found these cute little buckets and will put some candy in them. Hopefully will remember to snap a picture of them to post later.

Ooops almost forgot one more project" This is going to be a small wall quilt to go in my daughters kitchen to cover her fuse box. O.k...... I seem to be making myself tirid looking at all these different projects so I think its a good time to close. take care untill next time!

Heyyyyy its me again" Bet you never thought I would get here. I have been so bad about posting but it just seems like the older I get the longer it takes me to do things and for some darn reason there are always more things to do".
Just found out that my stepdaughter is comming for a visit. She is planning to stay with her stepbrother as he has more room. Should liven things up around here as she is always interesting to say the least. Right now she has pink hair which is usually purple. I am sure she will be remembered by all. It will be good to see her as we haven't seen her since leaving Spokane three years ago or has it been four.? I swear the time goes by much too quickly.
Wellllllll I managed to get my doll quilt finished" although I don't know how. It seems like everytime I start looking for something I get sidetracked by something else I have run into. I found a quilt on the net yestarday and spent a good half hour figureing out the pieces so that I could make it. It is just two simple blocks but if you don't sit down and color them out on a graph paper of sorts then you loose them.

Then I ran across some other blocks that I had started a eons ago and put them up on the design wall and added a few more. Anyway the doll quilt wound up 16x `12 1/2"s This is the smallest quilt I think I have made. I might possibly have made this size for my darling granddaughter but I don't think it had as much detail. Let me tell you it requires your full concentration! Have also been working on an afghan" Did I tell you that I am always going in many different directions at once. The doll with the doll quilt was made by a very nice lady named Pam" She has a blog called creative dawn and she does some gorgous work!
Well its about time I close for now as I have a lot of things to get finished before going back to work tomorrow. How depressing is that! I only just got home and started relaxing lols .

Boy am I ever glad friday the thirteenth is over with! I have never been one to fall for all of that: but I have to tell you after yestarday it made me wonder if there wasen't something too it!
First of all hubby went out to start the tiller as he wanted to put in some winter squash. It wouldn't start and then he noticed that there was someting caught in one of the tines so he pulled on it to get it out. well his hand slipped and he ran the tip of his finger right through the tip of one of the tines. He was a bloody mess and having all those nerves in the tips of your fingers sure didn't help any. He got the bleeding stopped and bandaged it all up and we didn't have to go in and get stitches like I thought we would. It probably could actually use a couple but when you have a stubborn man: I have learned after all these years together that there is a time to argue and a time to just walk away. This one looked like it would mend on its own and he had taken all of the precautions of washing it out good and soaking in peroxide so I let it go.
Then we were stitting outside on the finished deck that hubby build for us when the guiennie got upset because tripod was allowed on the deck and he wasen't. He is joined at the hip to tripod whenever he is outside. welllllllll he flew onto the grill and I shooed him away from there and he went over and landed on one of my planter boxes that contained herbs that I have been starting. welllllllll when I headed towards him he flew up to the roof of the house but not before knocking over my whole planter box. what a mess! Not too mention my herbs had just poked their little heads out a couple of days prior too this. sooooooooo I cleaned it all up and replanted. The rest of the day went fine so it wasen't a total loss. I worked on some small five inch squares for a baby quilt . I joined a small quilt group and have been playing around with the little blocks. very time consuming but fun! Will include a picture of the deck and hopefully by the next entry I can get a picture of the afghan I am working on and some of the miniature blocks.

O.k. will someone pleaseeeeeeeeeee tell where in the world the time is goingggggg?????? It seems like I just returned home and before you know it I will be back to school. The boss called and said we have to meet on the 18th for breakfast and then the 20th for a luncheon. I suspect the second one is to meet the new principal. So curious to see what she is like and if there will be any changes with her in charge. We have a new kitchen this year so that will be a huge change in itself. before we were in the dark ages so this new one should take a lot of the heavy lifting off of us. or should I say continuous lifting. before we had a very small freezer so whenever you needed something it was usually to the back of the freezer which meant you had to unload the whole thing to get too it. This would go on and on all week long. wellllllllll now we have a decent size freezer with shelving units so it should make our lives much easier.

At the home front we have been working on the deck that hubby started while I was in Spokane. It is almost finished and I am loving it! we went out and bought two white rocking chairs which is almost a southern tradition but I love them anyway so they would have been here regardless, then we bought two other chairs that will relline back along with a table in between. After that I picked up a barbeque grill " Just a little one for the deck. hubby has a nice one out in the yard that seldom gets used but this way we will have no exscuse not to grill.
I already love sitting out there and reading books, doing saduko puzzles and bird watching. Its like having an extra room".

Now I feel guilty that I don't have anything to show as far as crafts. I haven't managed to get back into sewing yet and the only thing I have been doing is a little bit of chrocheting on my afghan. Next time I hope to have pictures of the front deck and will try and remember to get a shot of the afghan too. And hopefully I will have something started in the sewing dept also. take care

Time seems to be just flying by me. Yestarday a friend from work talked me into going to a shopping mall in Smithfield and was it ever hugeeeeeee. I swear it would take a person at least a week to get through the whole thing. We did however manage to get through three or four of them. I told her when I get back in August we can go again.
After I got home I received some sad news. one of my very good internet friends lost her youngest son due to a car accident. I feel soooo badly for her. That is something you never get over. Time makes it more bareable but it never stops hurting. I wish that I could be there with her and help her go through it but luckily she has two daughters and lots of friends to help her to get through this.
Welllll today I started machine quilting my granddaughters quilt. Its half way done but let me tell youuuuuu I think this may just be my last quilts other then wall quilts or maybe a lap quilt. I am just getting too old to crawl around on the floor pinning quilts together and in the past I have always quilted by hand. That is muchhhhh easier then trying to manipulate a quilt around the throat of a sewing machine. If I had the space to set up my frame I would have much preferred to quilt it by hand. Anyway it should be done before long. then I am hoping I can squeeze it in to my luggage some where. I would like to carry it on instead of put it in the regular baggage as it is something that just can't be replaced. After that I baked cupcakes which I will take down to the voting station at the fire house this afternoon. Hubby is working there today and its a very long day for all of them. I just got back from getting them their lunch.
Just attached a picture of my friend and I in one of the shops we stopped at in the mall. I am always amazed at the gorgous flowers they have here in North Carolina. there are several that I would love to have but they would have to be taken inside durring the winter and I just don't have the room.
There is also a picture of some hot pads I am making. I got this pattern from a blog that I visited recently. I had emaild the owner of the blog to see where I could find the pattern and she was sweet enough to sketch it out for me. it was her own original pattern. I am always so amazed at how nice our internet friends can be".
Fathers day was nice as Dougs son, grandson, and greatgrandsons were here to wish him well. By now you all know that all of my pictures will be posted in the opposite order that they should be. I still haven't figured out how to adjust that one. O.k. guess I had better run some cupcakes down to the fire station. everyone take care untill next time.

Boy this had been one of those weeks. First of all it was my last work week untill next august so that was a good thing. but I can sure tell that I am getting olddddddd. After crawling around inside those darn ovens trying to clean them friday by the time I got up saturday morning I could hardly move. Finally gave in and took a muscle relaxer and the rest of the day went better" at least for my bodys aches and pains.
Remember the zig zag quilt that I posted for my granddaughter? wellll one of my good friends emailed me and said Linda did you know that you had one of the rows turned around in your quilt or did you meant for it to be that way? Ohhhhhhhhhhh noooooooo definately not! sooooooo I spent the next hour or so ripping out the seams and putting it back together the right way. I was so glad that she let me know now before I decided to quilt the darn thing.
I also started a patriotic table runner from one of my groups. Do you know how sometimes the simplest projects can turn into a nitemare" welllll this was one of those projects. I put it all together very quickly but decided after looking at it that I really didn't like it. sooooo I decided to change the edges to a pointed runner instead of a long square one. That looked much better. But after putting it up on my design wall I still wasent't happy with it and decided it was because of the way they layed out the colors in the flag. it wasen't just red white and blue but red blue white red so it was off too me" soooooo you guessed it" I tore the whole thing apart once again and put it all back to gether the way I thought it would look good. welllllll would you believe that after I hung it back up" I discovered that one of the ends was backwards which would have meant taking it completely apart once again and by that time I really was not interested in this project any longerrrrr. Do any of you have days like this! normally I am smart enough that when things are not going my way " to walk away and come back later but not this time.
I have decided that since this is my first weekend a free woman (from work that is) that I would bake some apple bread which I did yestarday and today I am going to make some bisquits and sausage gravy. (definately not weight watcher material ) but its what I happen to be in the mood for. may have to walk it all off later.
Hubby was out in the veggie garden while I was pulling weeds in the flower garden and he brought in some more cukes. He had to take a picture and insisted on laying a ruler next too them. He could not believe how big they got. last year for some odd reason we grew little cukes but this years batch has definately made up for it.
Well I think I am going to go see what kind of trouble I can get into today. take care untill next time.

Well this is has really been a short week. First of all we had monday off for memorial day and then I had to take today off for a dental appointment so tomorrow is friday already and I hardly feel as though I have worked at all".
As you know I finished one of my granddaughters quilt tops last week and this week I have one started for yet another one of my granddaughters. I am thrilled that I should have both quilts finished before I leave in next month at least the tops will be if nothing else. Its kind of fun to put them together with the kids and their mom.
We have also been doing a lot of gardening, Or maybe I should say hubby has. I weed here and there and water when I get the chance too. Now I do my share of eatting what comes out of the garden I can tell you that! And as usual you will see that the pictures are in the wrong order. darn it! I still have not figured out how to fix that problem.
I have also been hand quilting a table runner that I started some time ago and just managed to get it pulled out again. I have promised myself that even though I have purchased another quilt pattern that I will be good and not start it untill I get these projects completed.
That is about all that has been going on lately. I know you are probably beginning to think that all I do is work and sew. wellll you might just be right with a little bit of cooking thrown in there! Take care untill next time.

Its been hot here the past day or two. Lots of humidity after it rained for several days. However I have still managed to work on one of my quilts and trying to finish up a table runner that I started some time ago. I have a picture of the coin baby quilt that I started but haven't managed to get it downloaded off of my computer yet. Hopefully this weekend for sure. This is a really fast one to make. It only takes five strips of coins and I already have three of them finished.
I also need to get out and take some recent pictures of all the garden activity. I love this time of year as everything grows soooo quickly. Hubby told me when I came home from work that we already have baby zuchinnies and cukecumbers. I would normally take pictures and send to my daughter as we love to tease her since we have such a longer growing season then she does but they had a frost recently and it killed everyhting she planted so I just don';t have the heart to tease her right now. (Maybe after it gets going again) I knoww I am sooo bad! O.k. I am off to play a little golf on the wii game" Take care untill next time.

Well its saturday again and it seems like instead of relaxing on my day off all I do is work and run. I am sure its like that with all of you who work outside the home. sometimes I feel like I am working my life awayyyyyy!
O.k. now for some good news" I found my camera! They had it at target so I bit the bullet and bought it. I loveeeeee it! so little and so much fun to use and view the photos with the touch screen. I think its a keeper!

Today I have managed to get the laundry done , cook dinner for hubby and grandson" who was here all day working on someones truck. I think they had a good visit". Which by the way gave me a little bit of time by myself to sew. I actually managed to finish my granddaughters quilt top. all that is left is to pick out some material for a border and then it is ready to go with me on my trip". Once I get there I will buy the batting and a sheet to match and tie the quilt with my dd and the grandkids.
Then I actually managed to get two more dresdon quilt blocks done inbetween the laundry and the cooking. Hope everyone else managed to have a good day today.

Time seems to be flying by" Before I know it school will be out and I will off for the summer. still working on grandaughters quilt. I think I have enough blocks finished to make the top. Now all I have to do is put them together and decide on a border.
In the meantime I have somehow gotten involved in the dresdon frezy" It seems like a lot of the blogs are making them and I just couldn't help myself. I have been playing around with scraps and really like the looks of them.
Other then that we have been playing around in the yard watching all the veggies grow. the flowers are getting gorgous and hubby decided to get one of those portable wood pits and would you believe we say outside in 85 degree weather roasting hot dogs to try it out! I swear the older we get the crazzier we get! It really was fun though. I guess you just had to be there!

Mothers Day Is Here"

Well its been a gorgous day outside. WE actually had coffee out in the yard this morning. I received a beautifull card from my grandchildren and daughter , and her hubby from spokane" This morning they called and all yelled happy mothers day! My stepson and his wife came over with the great grandsons today and brought me a beautifull ceramic coffee cup to plant some flower in and a package of canna lilly bulbs. My granddaughter zoe emailed me from Seattle and my stepson from seattle also called and emailed me. So life is Good! Mothers Day was always something special between me and my mother. I always got her something on mothers day usually flowers. At that time they always had venders on most of the street corners selling flowers. I think its a day that says ohhhhhhhhhhh wow do I ever realize nowwwww what it was like raising kids. lols I actually enjoyed raising kids. that is untill they became teenagers and then I am not so sure. would have gladly traded them in untill they were 21.
My daughter sent me some pictures of the kids which I always loveeeeee! and in this one the baby doe's not look happy about the whole process. usually she is such a little ham!
Well its about time I got back to working on granddaughters quilt or I won;t have it ready when I leave for Spokane this year. Take care and Happy moms Day too all of you!

I am sooooooo happy it is the weekend again" It is so nice to be home where there is air conditioning. I think I may have mentioned that I work for the school district and we have no air conditioning in our kitchen. Do you have anyyyyyyyy idea how hot it can get when it is in the nineties outside and we have ovens runing inside? No one has been brave enough to set a thermomitor in the kitchen because if they did I am sure we would all quit! They are building us a new one and from what we have been told we will actually have air conditioning in this one yesssssssssss!
So far today I have managed to get he laundry finished, I cooked dinner a nice dish of rolled up chicken with ham and cheese in the center, garlic cream cheese mashed potatoes, corn and of course beer bread". My hubby has become sooooooo spoiled " He is a bread lover from wayyyyyy back and before I would bake bread maybe once or twice a month, because lets face it" baking bread can be time consuming and when you work outside of the home as well as inside not too mention gardening and your favorite hobby is quilting you just don't always have the extra time. wellllll I love to search blogs and one day : I came across one that talked about beer bread. I had never heard about this one before so naturally I had to do some research. I went and typed in beer bread and came across sites that gave recipes which were all reallyyyy easy to make. you see the beer replaces the yeast process so all you do is throw the ingredients together which takes a total of three or four minutes and then you add a bottle of can of beer and put it in the oven with some melted butter over the top and you are doneeeeeeee!!!! Did I metion that this bread is fabulous! well it is and if you haven't tried it you really must! I promis you that you won't be sorry.
I am even going to tell you how to make it and save you all the recipe searching so you have absolutely noooo exscuse. make sure you have a six pack of beer in your fridge from this day forward. Don't worry the alcohol content will be cooked out of it. Hubby and I are not beer drinkers ( I prefer wine) so we have to buy beer just for our bread. o.k. are you readyyyyy. first you take 3 cups of flour sifted, 3 teaspoons baking powder, 1 tsp salt, 1/4 cup of sugar, mix , then add a 12 oz. can or bottle of beer and stir it with a spoon. pour the whole mess into a greased or srayed bread pan . go to your microwave and melt 1/4 cup margarine or butter pour over the top and put it into the oven for one hour at 375 degrees. Nowwwwww is that easy or what? No exscuses you really have to try it!
O.k. I am off to see what else I can do today. I have managed to cut out some more blocks for my granddaughters quilt. Its times like this when I wish I still belonged to a quilt group. I have cut out about thirty ten inch squares of blue and I keep having to run back to the store to find more blue. O.k. take care and have a great day!

Yuppppppp that is the first time I have stippled anything . Nothing fancy but it always makes me feel good to try something new! I swear" I do not know where all the time goes! I think its a combination of getting older (time definately goes faster) Mainly because it takes us longer to get everything done! and the fact that I am working for a living it seems like one day just runs into the other.
This is gardening season so that has been a huge time user and I have even found time to start a new quilt for my one of my granddaughters. I have not told her yet because I am hoping to finish the top by the time I leave for spokane. if not then I don't want to disapoint her. This is what it is looking like right now. She loves blue so hopefully she will like this one.

Last week I went shopping at michaels. They had the most adorable boxes on sale for 40% off. I looked at them and thought I really would like to get a couple of them and then as quickly thought nooooooo you don't have any room as it is. welllllllll being a typical woman I got home and thought Linda you should have bought the darn things to keep your applique in one place and another one for your hand embroidery. welllllll by the time I got back there they were not on sale any more so I wound up paying full price for one of them and used my coupon for the other one. Now ladies just learn from my mistakes and when you see something you love! grab it!

Well this is the morning I had to take my boniva" Its H-ll getting older! so Now I have all those things I need to catch up on that I couldn't while not being able to bend . everyone take care and hopefully it won't be so long before posts again. I knowwwwwww its been forever since I have written in my blog" Besides being terriably busy I have been going through the dulldrums. Just have not been able to get interested in sewing . I usually go through this right after christmas for a short time and then start up again but this is april alreadyyyyyyyyy. This morning I finally jumped out of bed! Welllllllll I kind of crawled out actually buttttt I had a great idea to go make myself a water bottle carrier for when I go out on my walks". I even thought add a pocket for my cell phone just in case I might need a ride home from all that exercise" lols

Right now I am on Spring vacation so am enjoying being home. Yestarday one of the grandsons showed up and so I cooked and baked beer bread and lemon cake. Between steven and hubby they can finish off a pan of beerbread between them almost in one sitting. Then I went outside and watered my flowerbeds as things are really popping up. Then hubby tilled up the garden patch where we are planting strawberries this year. We decided to plant our tomatoes in hanging pots as our green peppers that we planted last year did so well in them. The strawberries are not in the ground and already looking good. He is out there plowing up an area to put in some cukes and some squash so I guess I should get dressed and get out there before the sun gets too hot. Its been in the eighties this weekend. My darling daughter went to montana to spend easter with her dad and she sent me a picture of the mountains there with all the snow. guess this hot spell isen't so bad after all. Back Again"

Well I am back again. Two posts in such a short time! Unusual for me lately. I saw a doctor because my knee kept buckling on me" and climbing stairs just about kills me. I apprently have what the call a bakers cist in the back of my knee. You don't want one! they are miserible little buggers. Anyway he has me on some pills to try and reduce the swelling so hopefully within the next couple of weeks it will improove. I swear I turned sixty and my whole body seems to be going to He--.
O.k. now for some good news! I made my granddaughter some pants with a matching tote and my daughter just emailed me a sequence of pictures when she got the package and opened it. I won't bore you by loading all of the pictures but will load one" She is just the cutesttttttttt little thing! Of course I have said that about allllll of my grandbabies! I think we are all getting such a kick out of this one because she was late and unexpected.
We just got home from an hour or so of shopping on base. The place was packed to day for some strange reason so it seemed like it took forever to pick up a few things and get home.
Tomorrow is friday!!!!!!!! I am really looking forward to getting off work and relaxing for a few days. I think that is about all there is right now so will close untill next time.

Just a quick post as I am busy baking sugar cookies and baking a new bread recipe. Just had to show you a picture of our littlest grandbaby after she received her doll quilt from granny Linda I think from the big smile on her face that she approoves".
Now for the downside" I went in and had all my bottom teeth pulled this week there were thirteen of them. I have evidently inherited a receeding gum disease. Let me tell you if there is any way you can hang on to your teeth do itttttttttt. This is absolutely miserible. This happened on wednsday and this is saturday and I still am not able to chew anything. maybe I am rushing it but I would much rather have my own teeth. The bad part is that I have to go back in the twentieth of this month and do the same thing with my uppers. I am hoping that things will get more tolerible in the next few days.

Happy New Years everyone! Would you believe I actually managed to stay awake for New Years this Year! I haven't done that in years! Woohoooooooooo

I woke up to my first email this morning from my daughter letting me know that I had won the pretty baby contest at my pincushion group! Yeahhhhhhhhhhhhh I am soooooooo excited! I never win these things! Can't wait to see the mail to find out what I won.

Well this seems to be a great way to start out the new year! Hopefully other good things will come this year". We have been busy playing in the kitchen and adding a few final details. Now we are discussing making a bakers rack to hang over the kitchen island. That would not only add more storage but would look wayyyyyyy cool! Hubby suggested making it out of pvc as we are in a prefab type of home and that would be light weight then we could spray paint it in a silver color. hmmmmmmmmmmmmm more to think about".

Well I managed to make it through another christmas" This used to be my most favorite time of year but being so far away from the little ones drives me crazzy! Kerrie sends me pics of the little ones opening their gifts and it helps but it would be soooo much better seeing them in person.

Kerrie sent me a picture of the baby wearing someones boots. she is such a stinker and has a persoanlity alllll her own.

The second picture is one of our little darling feeding her little cousin a bottle. would you believe her cousin is a year younger then she is? The first year of her life they went round and round and could not figure out why she was so tiny. And to this day they still don't know . she is perfectly healthy but is just tiny. So needless to say everyone spoils her crazzyyyyyyyyyy you just can't help it! We all love babies and she was a late unexpected gift to Kerrie and Bryan and she has made all of us soooooooo happy.

The other picture is one of two of the other grandchildren making christmas cookies. the other picture is of my grandson making cookies. and here is a picture of another one of my granddaughters She is growing up soooooooo fast as all of them are. I wish that we could keep them little forever. Nahhhhhhhh not really I am glad they are growing up to be such great kids.

As most of you know who follow my blogg we are living in North Carolina to be next to my hubbies son and grandkids and great grandsons. To make a long story short both hubby and his son have serious heart problems and I agreed to move here so that they could spend some time together.

The last picture is of the twins the great grandsons. Now of course you realize that all these posts will be backwards. for some reason I have yet to figure out why the last picture I post ends up being the first one at the top of the page.

Today I finally got back on my treadmill for a whole twenty minutes. But heyyyy it is a start. I have eatten wayyyyy too much of my own cooking. I have always been a pumpkin pie fan and since we have lived down here" I have been told that sweet potatoe pie is much better. wellllllllll I finally made some for christmas this year and I have to admit that I am a convert. I have also eatten wayyyyyyyy too much of the candy I made for the girls at work and the grandkids here.

Normally I do a lot of sewing and quilting but lately I seem to be going through withdrawls from my sewing room. I did manage to finish another doll quilt for the baby which will go in the mail soon. Maybe I will get back into it soon. All I can think about lately is just relaxing before I have to go back to work. Well its getting late here so I had better close for now. I knowwww its been a hectic time of year and I should be spending more time bloging but with christmas on the horizon it seems like my time is completely taken up. I thought I would post just to let you know that I am still around and haven't deserted you completely.
This past week has been parties at work and now I have a glorious two weeks off from work which I am very excited about. I had to laugh because most of the teachers looked like they were ready to check into a funny farm so I am certain they will enjoy this time off too!
Not a lot of sewing going on lately. I did manage to sew another doll quilt for the little one and an apron. Her mother is supposed to send me a picture of her wearing the apron so when she does I will get that posted.
This is such a busy time of year. It seems like there are things going on every where you turn. I absolutely hate shopping this time of year. Every place is sooooooo crowded.
This week we had a sad note " we had to attend a funeral for my husbands oldest friend. He has been fighting cancer for the past four years and he finally gave up and is in a far better place. He was a preacher and so the funeral was a long one because of his preacher buddies but actually a very nice one. They all got up and gave a small sermon and talked about how they had met Bob and talked about his life. They had us laughing one minte and crying the next. I swore that I would not attend any more funerals as I have gone through way too many throughout the years and I would rather remember people as they were. But Hubby has not attended many and since he spent so many years in the military he has not had to go to a lot of the people he has lost touch with through the years. ANyway to make a long story short I thought he might need my support so I went.
SPeaking of my husband he is one of these people that are impossible to shop for" He goes out and buys anything he wants when he wants it. Last week he mentioned that he would like to get a brad gun and so I thought yesssssssssssss I will get that for him for christmas. wellllllllllll guess what the very next time we went to town he pulls into lowes and walks out with a brad gun!
Well I headed for sears yestarday to see if there were some new tools I could buy him but stopped off at radio shack instead. I lucked out as he loves electronic gadgets! He has one of these temperture things sitting on the table that reads the inside and outside temps and it went capoot the other day. well they had a newer model with large readouts so I bought that and then they had this new tire gadge that is not shaped like a pen but more like a computer game control and you can actually check your pressure in the dark and it also has large digital readouts. ( what can I say) when you get older these things become veryyyyyy important!
Let see what else is going on" ohhhhhhhhhh we got our kitchen island finished all except the top. We had to have that specially made to fit the island and they called yestarday and it won't be ready for another month. we had originally been told we would have it by christmas but as much as we both have to do yet to get ready for our christmas eve party that is probably a good thing.
Let me tell you" that kitchen island makes such a huge difference in our little kitchen for storage and work space. I loveeeeeeee the extra counter space it gives me. I do a lot of baking so it come's in very handy.

I knowwwww Its been awhile since I have posted. Would love to offer an exscuse but it seems like life just gets in the way and before you know it time is slipping by.

I just had to tell you about where I have been for the last half an hour. Someone on one of my groups posted a site that was all about lefsa. Well being Norwegion i grew up on the stuff and it was such fun to go look it over. They of course have all kinds of different tools to make it but back then my mother made it with nothing more then a ricer and a cast iron frying pan" or when we were at the lake she would make it up on one of those old fashioned wood stoves that you cook on. It brought back lots of memories. For the most part" I loved my norwegion food" with the exception of lutefisk. I was never really fond of the stuff and have not eaten it since I was a kid and had to eat it. soooooooooo many memories.

Lets see what else has been going on. Well we have finally gotten through with most of the remodeling. the walls are painted, the floors have been layed and the carpet is down. We have gotten rid of our dinning room table and chairs and tomorrow we are going to go look for cupboards and hubby is going to create a kitchen island with lots of storage. We need storage soooooo badly. I love to cook and I love to bake so I seem to be forever buying utincils and new pans ect. with no place to put them. Along with the cooking ware there is the grocery issue. Both hubby and I grew up where you always had a full pantry. My mother used to can veggies, deer meat ect. so we always knew that no matter what else happened we sure wouldn't starve. I am the same way except for the canning. Between working ect. I just don't seem to have the time but I still enjoy watching the sales and keeping a full pantry. So all of this extra storage is going to make me a very happy camper.

Can you believe that we are half way through november alreadyyyyyyy this is scary. I need to get busy and get all of my gifts bought so that I can send off the ones that need to be there in time for christmas. I have not been in the mood to do any sewing lately for some odd reason. I seem to go through these moods at least once a year. I just found the cutest bag pattern today that might get my interest renewed again. I did get some wood carving knives from my hubby for my birthday because I would like to try some carving It is called chip carving and I think that I am going to enjoy learing how to do it. I have also been thinking about knitting again. The problem is that I just have to be in the right frame of mind and lately I haven't been able to concentrate on any one thing.

I did find this little doll for my youngest granddaughter. I fell in love with it because of the wings. It reminded me of her halloween costume. I hope she likes it as much as I did" I will send her some baby doll quilts too.

Well I can't think of anything else to report right now" the other day when I thought about posting I had all kinds of things to write about but have lost most of them now. Wellllllllll what do you expect after alllllllllllll I did just turn 60!!! Have a great day!

I forgot to show you the changed version of the tablerunner. I changed some of the blocks and the way they were arranged. I am still not sure I am happy with it but I like it better then the first selection.

And one more thing" I also forgot to show you what I made my secret pal at work for halloween. The snippet bag had halloween candles and candy in it.I am really slippingggggggggg must be old age!

Wow the time is still going by much too quickly! Yestarday was my birthday and it seems like I was going constantly. I went to work and the girls at work all gave me birthday gifts , then it was home to more birthday gifts. My daughter suprized me with several fat quarters of fabric which she knows her mama lovessssss! an adorable jar full of buttons and a pin cushion on top which she made with her very own hands! That makes it all the more special!

I had told hubby a few weeks ago that I wanted to get some chip carving knives as I thought I might enjoy learning how to do that. welllllll he ordered a complete set of carving type knives and they really weren't what I needed for the chip carving soooooooooo We wound up ordering a chip carving book and knives and a sharpening stone, so I should have plenty to keep me busy. I will never understand people that say they have nothing to do when they get older. Speaking for myself" I am busier then I ever was. Every time I turn around it seems as if there is something else to do.

I have my witch hung on the door for halloween. I have the makings for some carmeled apples in the kitchen ready to go". Last weekend we were in Nascar country for grandsons graduation from the nascar school. He seemed very happy and we were all happy that he had finally graduated. He has been there since July of 08 so it will be good to see him back home again. We also got to meet his new girlfriend Robin. She seems very nice and they seem very happy together. I am not sure how the move back home will effect things but I am sure they will work things out. where there is a will " there is always a way!. Like I told them " If I can fly three thousand miles every summer to see my family then they can certainly arrange travel for three hundred miles.

Lets see what else is going on" ohhhhhhhh I had a birthday email from one of my best friends in high school. She lives clear across the u.s. from me now and ever since her hubby introduced her to the sale of pet shop she has been swamped with work. I supsect that she is loving it as she has always been an animal lover. I can understand that since I am the same way. I have been working on a table runner and the blocks are all finished but haven't managed to set it together yet.

Welllllll I suppose that is all for now. We are waiting for the kids to come over for my birthday. Dougs son and daughter in law are comming tonite instead of last nite due to work ect. will post again as soon as I can" take care untill then.

This has been a very crazzy last few weeks. Between painting the living room, haveing carpet and vinal put on the floors and health issues for both hubby and me" I am getting very little accomplished. by the time I get home from work and running to doctors and after perscriptions it seems like I head for the easy chair and that is where I remain untill bedtime. Hubby has to get another ultra sound because of swoolen ankels which dosen't sound very good too me. So while I am anxouse to get that one over with" I am worried that it will not be good news too.
My problems have been minor in comparison but irritating none the less. tennis elbow and I injured my shoulder by pulling a muscle at work which seems to have also worked its way down to my back. after being on pain pills and muscle relaxers for the past couple of weeks things are looking better. The tennis elbo required a shot in the elobo along with several weeks of streoids. And I wonder why I just keep getting bigger and bigger. I have to tell you that I am soooooooo sick of steroids.
Hubbies daughter may be arriveing next month. one of her sons is going into the military somewhere not far from us so she plans to visit us while going to his graduation.
Hubbies granson is graduating from automobile school so we are going to drive down and spend the nite in a motel so that we can be there for his graduation and drive back home. He has found himself a girlfriend and seems quite enamored with her. She is a couple of years older then he is and happens to be his boss right now. Should be interesting to watch what happens there.
Is everyone ready for holloween? I have my holloween wall hanging on the front door. around here the sun shines all the time so we hang it on the inside otherwise the sun would eat it up.
Have also been working on a new tablerunner. I saw a quilt on one of the bloggs and decided I could make that into a table runner so I got busy and figured out the pattern.
Well that is about all that is going on in my life at this time. so will leave and hopefully have better news the next time I post.

Labor day

WEll here it is Labor day and We are sitting at home relaxing. I suppose that is a good thing since it has been raining outside for most of the day.
Lets see what has been going on in my life lately. Ohhhhhhhhh my sweet granddaughter cloe has been staying in touch on the computer" she sent me some recent pics of her and her dad. Her dad is a drummer in a band so she also sent a few of those along too. The picture is of cloe her mom and her dad".

The other picture is of a table runner I am currently working on. I shall add a picture of our son in his band but I am sure it will not be in order" I have yet to figure out how in the world to get the pictures to follow the words. It is just beyond me so bear with me"

My arm seems to be better since they gave me the steroid shot and put me on a series of steroid pills. I am hoping that is going to cure it. Or at least keep it from flaring up again. I dropped one of those huge pans almost at work" I caught it but in the meantime I managed to burn my neck with the corner of it. If its not one thing its another.

Hubby is still pulling up carpet so the new stuff hasen't been delivered yet. will be glad when that mess is out of the way. When part of the house is torn apart I wind up wanting to clean up other area's. My sewing room is the one that is bothering me the most. I have sooooooooo much stuff and sooooooo little room. What I really need to do is go through all of it and keep what I absolutely need and donate the rest to the local quilt group. Hubby promised to build me some shelves in the closet so once he does that! I am going to have to become serious about getting things organized. Can you imagine actually being able to go looking for something and find it without haveing to tear the whole room apart? I found the neatest applique method called Vicki Bellino's No -Fraying Applique tutoiral on the net the other day and while I have seen several methods of freezer paper applique this one was different then the rest. She uses one of those tiny little irons and my hubby bought me one years ago for christmas. He was soooooo proud of himself for finding it himself and I didn't have the heart to hurt his feelings but I was thinking what will I ever use it for. wellllllllll let me tell you it has been tucked away inside a little pocket pouch on my ironing board all these years and nowwwwwwwwwww when I actually had a use for it" Do you think I could finddddddd it! noooooooooo I had moved it in one of my rare moments . I apprently thought I had a better place for it. welllllllll I tore the room apart for the better part of two days and when I finally found it " I could have kicked myself! What it boils down tooooooooo is I need some organizationnnn around here.

With that in mind I went to michaels the other day " They have me addicted because of their coupons they knowwwwwwwwwww that I will return to buy even more stuff that I probably don't need. I purchased a huge plastic beach bag to keep all my little gifts inside of. I have been involved with the secret pal program each year at work and each month or more we suprise our secret pals with little gifts. Anyway this seems to be working to keep everything in one place. Then I went to a store we have around here called ollies and found the neatest organizer book. It has a place for addresses , telephone numbers, birthdays, and even little places to store your cards. finally a place to keep them alllllllll together. now if I could just figure out how to apply all of this organization to my sewing room I would be a very happy camper. Maybe by the time I come back" some of it will be done. take care

apple bread and computers

O.k. I have enough time to make a couple of very quick comments. I just finished making two loaves of apple bread. we seem to go through stages. we will buy apples and we forget to eat them and at other times we will eat nothing but apples. anyway I had three that were going to go bad with in the next day if I didn't do something with them" so after dinner I made two loaves of apple bread. I used to use regular flour to make bread and one day I decided to buy bread flour and try it to see if there really was a difference. welllllllllll honey let me tell you if you haven't already tried it please do" It makes the texture of the bread soooo much easier to cut and I think it is actually a better flavor.

Now for my other comment" Is it just me or do you all" have a problem when you go to a site that has music playing on it? I love to go through the different blogs to get idea's on sewing projects and every darn time I come across a blog playing music my dang computer freezes up on me. I get soooooooooo gosh darn irritated I feel like throwing my computer out the window. I knowwwwwww I should definately strive for more patience and hopefully the Good Lord will help me with that" but in the meantime can anyone tell me why this happens? Or is it just my computer that does it. I hate to complain because I don't mind listening to music but it is sooooooooooo frustrating. O.k....... I have complained enough and I have several messages to go read so will close for now.

O.k. just to fill you in" I have been painting and its almost done. I think I have like a four foot area to paint and then I am doneeeeeee" Do you have any idea what it is like to be an overweight little shortyyyyyyyy that is almost sixty years old with arthritus crawling around on a scaffoldddddd??? Well let me tell you its notttttttt a pretty site! soooooooo glad it is finished!

I went in and got my hair cut yestarday after work. I swear it is shorter then hubbies hair which I just cut the day before. I am not complaining because I told her to cut it short because working in that hot kitchen in august and septemeber especially will not be fun! I have to tell you that I have worn my hair long for most of my life and to wear it this short ( I am talking spiky short) is a real switch for me. It feels great and when it starts getting long on my neck it drives me crazzy Who would have guessed""""""""""

We went in and picked out new carpet for the living room and they had to order it but it should be in the middle of next month. We have opted to rip up the old carpet and move the furniture out to save money. I cannot beleiveeeeee how much they charge for that. Of course that being said I can remember when we ripped out the carpet in my sewing room and had to pull up allllllllll of those nasty little tacks" I swore I would never do it again and what do I do"""""' I tell hubby ya knowwwwwwwwww we can save quite a bit of money if we do that part our selves. urrrrrrrrrrrr me and my big mouth! See what happens when you come from a generation with parents that saved money every way they could" O.k........ I am through complaining it really should go quickly and I am soooooooooooo ready for new carpet. Its been almost three years of living with this thread baren carpet. We bought this home from a man that rented them out and this partiqular model happened to be located in a drug area. wellllll it was not very well taken care of and so we have been working on it ever since. We got it for such a good price that we just couldn't refuse and put it on two acres of land . Welllllllllll thats about all that is going on today so I am going to go see if I can finish up that last four foot section and then itsssssssss good by scaffold! Hopefully that is the last time I will have to crawl around on one in my lifetime.

O.k. one more thing" I just had to post a couple of pictures of my grandbabies! The youngest is playing with the new blanket granny sent her. She picked out the fabric herself when we had her with us in one of the quilt shops this summer" then you will see her examing the back side of the quilt which is an I spy " which my daughter suggested. Then of course the my other two darling granddaughters are busy putting puzzles to gether that I sent them. who knew these 3D puzzles could be so cute. My grandson is the oldest and he got a late start on his puzzle so will have to post that one at a later date. take care untill we meet again"

Have you ever noticed that no matter how much you want to get your accomplishments finished it seems like something always stands in the way. Well once I got home from Spokane I immediately started on my granddaughters new quilt. I did manage to get that finished. Then we happened to see an ice cream machine and since my daughter had introduced me to homemade ice cream again " we decided it would be fun to have one. as you can see hubby is happy we did!
Now one of the things I really wanted to accomplish before going back to work is to paint my living room. Somehow I seem to have developed this tennis elbow which is givng me fits so I am not sure I will get it done before I go to work.
Yestarday the steering pump was acting up in my car so we just got back home after having that repaired. Have you ever noticed that all the warranties you buy for a vehicle run out within a month after your warranty runs out?. We also bought a new matress and I can tell you we put that one off wayyyyyy too long as we both slept like babies last nite.

Friday Home from vacation

Well just a quick note to let everyone know what an absolutely great time I had! I spent three weeks visiting with my daughter, son in law and four wonderfull grandkids! Donald the oldest is growing by leaps and bounds, Kloe Has decided to become a writter, kendra seems to be interested in cheerleading and all those girly activities. And last but no least casey is just adorable. she is not growing very fast and is still just a little thing but she is soooooooo cute. She has the cutest personalitly. I think she has everyone in the family wrapped around her little finger including her grandma! I miss all of them already!

Today I had a chance to unpack and much too my dismay several of the things that I had bought were broken. luckily hubby is good with a glue bottle and went to repairing them for me right away. Kerrie and I hit yard sales and an auction of her father in laws so you knowwwwww that I wound up buying a third suitcase to bring home with me. I had already packed my larger suitcase with things for the kids thinking that it would be the empty one to come back with me but by the time I finished going to yard sales, (did I mention they have the neatest yard sales?) and the auction , not too mention the fabric stores and quilt shops I really haddddddd to buy the third suitcase. Now I am trying to cram everything into my little sewing room which is shrinking day by day.

After I unpacked I sat down to open the package from my dear swap partner in the friendship swap that I spoke of in an earlier post. I was abasolutlely amazed at what she sent me. she was soooooooooooo creative not only in her stitching but also in her packaging. she did the most adorable wrappings. It felt like christmas going through all of them. She came up with the cutest things to spell out friendship and she made me the most amazinggggggggg doll! I wish I had such talent! I am going to call her deliahla. she is up on my shelf where I can look at her every day. I am thinking that I may have to rearrange things so that I can have a shelf just for dolls. she is justtttttttttttt too cute!

Well it is pouring down rain here and before the lightening starts I think it might be a good idea to shut down the computer. take care untill we meet again.

Well it is tuesday morning and I will be flying out thursdayyyyyyy just two one more day before I leaveeeeeee yessssssssssss I am sooooooooo looking forward to getting my arms around those grandkids and my daughter!!!!!!!!! I haven't been able to get excited about working on anything because I have been too busy thinking about the trip. I did manage to get kerries gift finished and have been working on dishclothes. the garden is doing great! I am going to miss going out and picking a bucket full of goodies each morning. The flowers are beautifull this time of year as you can see" I pick a fresh boquet every other day or so.
I went to see a doctor yestarday about my arm hurting so much and it seems that I have tennis elbo. Well its thursday and the time seems to be just flying by. one week from today I will be flying off to see the kids. I got up this morning to see the news of a nude passenger flying from n.c. to vegas woooooooooooo lets hope my trip is not quite so exciting. I could do with a nice relaxing trip. lols
Lately I have not been creating a lot because I have my mind on getting ready for the trip. I purchased an mp3 player so that I would have something to listen too and hubby has had a heck of a time getting it figured out. the first one didn't work so we took it back and this one seems to be driving him crazzy. Hopefully we will get it all worked out before I leave. this is the time it would help to have a teenager around. They know soooo much more then we do when it comes to gadgets!
Anyway I have been chrocheting lots of dishcloths. For some reason this has been relaxing too me. I haven't chrocheted for years but for some strange reason I want to do it again. Kind of like the hand embroidery. Am I the only one that is like this?
I will try and get another post in before I leave but if I don't you can rest assured knowing that I am enjoying myself with daughter and grandkids. Yessssssssss

Gee the time is going by sooooooooo quickly. Before you know it I will be packing to go to Spokane. I am soooooooooo excited. Can't wait to hold all those grandkids in my arms " not to mention my daughter!
Yestarday we went to wallmart so that I could buy an ipod but once I got there I decided on an mp3 player instead. Now we are in the process of figureing out how to download music too it. We stopped by the other wallmart today where I got some better ear phones " I hate the ones that you put inside of your ears so I bought the type that you slide over your ear. Then of course I had to come home and make a bag to carry the player, earphones and the jack in. I found the pattern while searching blogs the other day. It is actually the same type of bag that I made for my camera so it was simple to make.
I am trying not to get too involved in sewing projects right now. I just finished a chorchet project that I am taking with me but cannot show you as my daughter might just see it if it were posted here. A friend of mine sent me a golly doll pattern that I would dearly love to start too but that one is going to have to wait untill I get back .
I hope all of you are enjoying your garden as much as we have been enjoying ours. I know that my poor daughter isen't as the deer ate hers this year. They have decided to move it closer to the house and maybe put up a larger fence. I think that she is going to put up a greenhouse like we are too this fall. I found a pattern for one made up of pvc pipe that looks pretty darn simple to make so I think that will be a lot of fun getting our plants started early for next year. Ohhhhhhhhh hubby bought me an orchid for our anniversary and it is soooooooooo gorgous! maybe I will start grwoing them once we get a greenhouse.

Good morning everyone" It's a gorgous day out there" Now if we could control that hot temperture it would be even better! Hubby is outside ferilizing and watering all the plant life. Our garden is doing fantastic this year" we have been getting tomatoes, zuchinni, radishes, cukecumbers to keep us fed and the neighbors.
I am on the countdown for leaving to go to spokane" I am soooooo excited to see everyone again. This morning Goshhhhhhhhhhh is it only eight o.clock? I must still be on work time. Anyway I degress" When I got up this morning and did the dishes that I left from the nite before" (I knowwwwwwwww that is bad)))))) I decided to do something in my sewing room. Awhile back I had made the tops for some doll quilts and decided that I need to get those finished to add to the others that I already have put away for Casey.
Its funny but I never feel like I have enough done even though these are a good year ahead of time before she will be wanting them. She just turned a year in may .
I have sooooooo much stuff to pack and its not stuff for meeeeeee '''' I swear I am going to have to pack everything and leave my clothing out! I had forgotten how much stuff I had put together. I try and mail a lot of the things durring the year but the mail has become so expensive that I have even cut back on that. And then there are the things that you make that you do not trust with the postal dept. I made a quilt top for my grandson and have decided to take it with and finish it there. I just wouldn't want to finish that and send it through the mail. After all I am getting older and it is getting harder and harder to put these quilts together so I sure wouldn't want to have it dissapear in the mail.
Do any of you have the problem of figuring out what to make for your teenage grandsons? I seem to be running out of things to make for Donald The girls are easy to make for because I can always come up with things for girls but boys are a different story" especially when they become teens. I have a pattern for some notebook covers so am planning to make up some of those for him. Couldn't lay in bed one minute longer. My back has been giving me a time lately so I am up early with time to comment on my blog. yestarday I had to go and see my arthritus doctor and we went out for a nice anniversary dinner afterwards. I had hubby drop me off at michaels while he went to lowes. what funnnnnnnnn! I can always find lots of things to spend money on in that place. Anyway I ran into a lady who was from out of town and started asking me questions about chrochet. we had quite a nice visit. She managed to get me interested in yet another project of which I will not reveal right now as it is going to be a surprise for someone" Hopefully I will be able to reveal it later if all turns out well!
I did manage to work on one of those cute little rabbits that are on one of the bloggs. Naturally I cannot remember which one" but I am quite sure Casey is going to like it.
After comming home from our shopping trip hubby surprized me with the most gorgous orchid!!!!!!!! This will be my very first orchid so I hope it likes me!

Well I couldn't wait any longer" Hubby said he liked the pink and green and I did too so I went ahead and made it. Now to reveal what it was I wanted to make.
I saw one of these on another blog but here had chrochet hooks going all the way across except for the scissor pocket. I decided that there are only several hooks that I use over and over again so I made enought room to hold eight of them and added yet another pocket on the other end for my glasses. O.k. I have a delemma" Normally I don't think twice about color but for some strange reason I seem to be going back and fourth with this one. I need your help" do you like the pink and green together best? or the pink and black together the best? I need to make up my mind by today so that I can hopefully get it put together tonite. It is something for me personally so I don't know why its such a big deal" I guess its because I seldom make things for myself.

Other the sewing I have managed to get up and get my vaccuming and dusting done and the garden is in good shape. The only bad thing to happen lately is that my car battery died yestarday. The dealer told us the last time we had it in for a check up that it needed to be replaced but they wanted three or four hundred dollars to replace it. well hubby went to auto zone this morning and bought one with the same type of waranty for $99.00 so Now I am a happy camper again. This means another trip to wallmart. Funny how often we go there! By now we should have stock in that store as much money as we spend there.
Hopefully I will make a decision on which one of these fabric combinations I like best as i would like to have my project finished so that I can post a picture of it today or tomorrow. take care

Funny how I seem to post on saturdays" Not sure why that is especially now that I am off work untill school starts up again.
This morning my hubby came in from the garden with an armload fulllllllll of zuchinnies. We already had our frefridgerator full so I called one of my neighbors and she happily took them all home. I told hubby that eventually we will have to put up a sign on the highway free tomatoes, free zuchinnie. Did I mention that we planted a lotttttttttttttt of them.
I have also been working on some blocks that I started yestarday. I started off just planning to make one block because I love stars and this scrappy star was just toooooooo cute. Well then I made another and another and thought hmmmmmmm maybe I will make a wall hanging out of them. Well now that I have it the size I want it" I cannot seem to make up my mind just what I want to do with them. I can either make a wall hanging and quilt something in the blank squares , I can embroider something in the blank squares orrrrrrrrr I could use it for a baby quilt since the colors are so brite and add some simple embroidery to the blank squares or again use a quilting design . I am leaning towards the quilting as I haven;'t done a lot of hand quilting lately. I used to have a quilt frame set up in my beauty shop where I could quilt any time I wanted too. Now I just don't have the room to set it up. so I use a hoop to quilt on. The more I look at it the more I am leaning towards a baby quilt. any ideas on the border?
I think my next project will be a lap quilt or twin size quilt. I have been collecting six inch squares for some time now so I think its about time I start putting them together. That is such a simple way to go but I loveeeeeeeee the scrappy simplicity of it all.

Well here it is saturday again and I was up and out of bed by six fifteen. They were haveing a yard sale at the church this morning so I just had to go" I have not seen many yard sales around here and the ones that I do see are all clothing and little kids stuff. Welllllllll I wound up with an adorable old birdhouse , a cute shirt with matching top that still had the tags on it", a pancake pan for hubby and a cute old fashioned basket for me" It dosen't take much to make me happyyyyyyyyy lols

Then I went out to weed some of our flower beds. I had to go back inside and grab my camera as there is so much happeing out there " The flowers are blooming the tomatoes are growing! I loveeeeee this time of year. Our little squirles aren't so little any more" Between the bird seed and the guiennies seed they are getting so gosh darn fat that I am seriously beginning to worry that the neighbors cats are going to get them. She has around fifteen of them and they seem to be attracted to our place because we have so many birds and squirrels. Well I guess I will leave that one to mother nature to worry about.

Now for the most exciting news this week! Hubby booked my flight to spokaneeeeeeeeeeee. Here that daughter and grandbabies of mine! I will be there before too long. School will be out in another four days so I can start thinking about packing. I am looking soooooooo forward to seeing them all again! O.k. welllllll I had better quit and get back to the laundry take care untill we meet again.

Ooops the page got away from me. Anyway I managed to finish two baby quilts for a co worker as she is going to have her first grandchild. And I finished a doll quilt for my bosses granddaughter. This little girl is so sweet and so polite. she is in kidnegarten and she made a special trip to the kitchen to thank me for the last one and give me a hug. I thought that her grandmother had put her up too that but apparently she came up with it on her own.
I have come to the conclusion that we need a smoker to cook meat in. After watching a barbeque show with paula dean and all the places she went for barbeque so I handed hubby the money today and told him we need to pick one up. Wallmart has one that looks very handy. I read all the reviews on them and found that the ones that use propane cook more evenly and it is easier to control the heat. So glad I read before buying because hubby and I had both thought about getting the ones without propane.
Our garden is doing soooooooo well. we have zuchinnie that should be ready next week or soon after. Our tomatoes are about the size of golf balls so they won't be far behind. I loveeeeeeeee this time of year. Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I belong to a pincushion yahoo group and they had some give aways this last week to celebrate their existance. anyway I won some material, an adorable scissor holder with scissors, a cute little sbs pin cushion, and a rotory cutter.

Well it was back to work today and tuesday is delivery day so there was lots of lifting. We have such a small kitchen that every time we do something we have to move it twice because we have to move it back out of the way to put it someplace else. it is a real pain" That being said they are in the process of building us a new kitchen that may or may not be done by next season. We are all hoping so".

Awhile back I posted that I had started a square in a square quilt for my Grandson Donald. well it was driving me crazzy as the squares were only six inches and I was getting tirid of looking at that and the limited color choices. I have come to the conclusion that in order to work on something for someone else I have to like what I am doing. My grandson when asked what colors he would like for his quilt said black and yellow. Welllllllll do you have any idea how boring it can be to work with just two colors."" I talked to his mom and told her that I was going to add a few colors to make it more interesting. she said go ahead that he changes his mind each and every day anyway.( Did I mention that he is a teenager) Anyway I happened to be on a blogg where someone had made a ducks in a row block and it hit meeeeeeeeee that is what I want to make for Daniel! So I started all over . I put the other blocks away and began making these blocks. They are sooooooooooo cool and I think it will be perfect for his bed. I am using yellow, black , orange, black, green , black , purple , black and blue and black. I am likeing the results. You would never know from looking now but at one time I only liked working with patels. Now I love everything especially color!
Our garden is growing by leaps and bounds. Hubby took a picture of me standing in the middle of our tomatoe patch to send to my daughter. He loves to tease her because living in N.C. we have a much longer and earlier growing season then she does in Washington.

Have been working more on the nine square blocks so I thought I would try and get a picture to give you an idea as to what they look like. My cat of course thought I needed help laying them out.
Yestarday I finally got the results of my lung tests from a month ago. Did I tell you that I have switched doctors offices. I am waiting for them to transfer my records but in the meantime they finally decided to call me yestarday one month after I had the tests done and informed me that I have asthma. I don't know of any other bussiness that could get by with that. Anyway I am dreading seeing my new doctor because I knowwwwwwwwww that the first thing he or she is going to say is that I shouldn't have any cats or dogs. welllllllllllll my cat is almost twenty years old. getting rid of her is just not an option. Hubby came down with asthma quite a few years ago and he feels the same. Our dog tripod is quite a shedder but like hubcap" getting rid of him is just not an option we adopted him a little over two years ago and he has become part of the family. so life goes on"

Well I hope that everyone had a nice mothers day" I received a very pretty sentimental card from my daughter. My son sent me a very pretty handmade card with roses that he had colored on the front of the card, My stepson called to wish me a happy mothers day from seattle and my stepson here in N.C. and his wife gave me a dvd with Julia Roberts called run away bride. It sounds like it will be a good comedy. My hubby dosen't like Julia roberts but I think she is great! I sat here the other day and watched a rerun of steel magnolias and when I wasen't crying my head off I was laughing untill I cried! I love movies like that touch all of your senses.
A couple of weeks ago I went to a new doctors office and gave them permission to transfer all my files over to them. Would you beleive I had a lung test completed a month ago and they just now called me to inform me that I have asthma. I swear some things are just unacceptable. I am usually pretty easy going but there are times when you just have to get up and find a better situation.
Not a lot going on around here today. I have been working on a nine patch quilt or at least blocks for one. I found a blogg that was doing these blocks and what they are is just nine two and a half inch squares sewn together into a nine patch block which by itself is not all that exciting. but she has used scrap fabrics and set them together with white strips and for some reason that white just really brings out all the colors. I am normally not into white but in this instance I love it. hopefully I will find some time to take some pictures one day soon so that you can see what I am talking about.
WE have been looking all over to find some chickens. This is the first area that I have ever lived in that dosen't have a livestock section in their newspaper. So we are going to have to get more creative in finding what we are looking for. Hubby is going to go online tomorrow and see what he can come up with. Years ago when we first met" my hubby rented a place just outside the city limits and started getting chickens , ducks, rabbits ect. well we aquired all kinds of different breeds of chickens some of which were quite adorable. That is what we would like to do now is get several differnt kinds. Hopefully we will get lucky.
I ordered something today called a skipblade. When I lived in Paris Idaho the girls there were always using something they called a hemmer machine to put holes in the edge of baby blankets made of flannel or fleece and bibs, burp clothes ect. then they would take chrochet thread and chrochet an edging around the edge of the blanket. These were soooooooooo cute. anyway I went to michaels and came home with a leather press that I could use to punch holes and do the same. This is o.k. but requires a lot of marking and time to punch the holes. with this skip stitch blade all you do is insert it into your rotory cutter and you run it up the outside edge leaving 3/4s of an inch to turn under and you have it ready to chrochet. I love it when they come up with things to make my life easier. The nice thing is that it only costs 11.00. It is owned by a mom and pop type bussiness so I feel good about supporting them. What a nice day I have had" I went to work and our boss had gotten all of us some gorgous plants for employee appreciation day". I decided that I wanted it to hang right outside my sewing room window so that whenever I am on the computer I can look out my window and see it. soooooooo we had to run into town and get a shephards hook. While we were there I purchased some chocholates for a co workers birthday and another package for my secret pal at work. The school has a secret pal that you can sign up for at the beginning of the year and each month you have someone drop off a package for you to your secret pal. It dosen't have to be anything expensive but something that you would enjoy receiving. You can also leave them something on hollidays, birthday ect. This is the first year I have joined and so far it has been a very pleasant experience. I have enjoyed it.
I have also started doing nine patches do to a blogg that I was looking at. If you would like to become involved with her project go to htt://crazymomquilts.blogspot
You are supposed to try and get at least one nine patch completed a day and by a certain number of days there will be enough to complete a quilt. These nine patches are done with white sashing strips and they just looked sooooooooooo cute that I had to start making them. I didn't join the group because I have way too many things going on right now and do not want to get myself stressed out. I will simply play along as if I had joined and hopefully will accomplish as much as the rest. I started two days ago and already have six completed so far so good!
Ohhhhhhhhh my strawberries have blossums on them!It is truely amazing how happy simple little things can make me!

Well I got up this morning and it is gorgous outside. The sun is peeking through the clouds so am hoping that it will be nice today instead of the rain that was predited. That being said The rain probably wouldn't hurt our gardens either. lols
I finally got my swap partner in the friendship swap! Have been waiting patiently. she seems to be a lovely person . she is from Philadelphia, and has four children and two grandchildren. She works for a police dept. something I would have loved to have done if I weren't so darn short! She loves chocholate! who could possibly go wrong with someone that loves chocholate! She is a scorpio just like me! and we seem to enjoy a lot of the same things. quilting , bags, emb,stitching. She makes the most beautifull dolls I think that I have ever seen. When she talked about rag dolls I thought she meant just the plain raggidy ann dolls like I used to make the kids and grandkids. noooooooo wayyyyyy hers are absolutely fantastic. From what I have met of her I think she is going to be fun to partner with. Khris evidently puts a lot of thought into who she pairs together. Thanks Khris!
Well this is saturday and that means that I normally do the laundry but hubby wants to go to the highschool and get some more plants. We have a highschool just outside of Goldsboro that has a nursery class and they produce the most gorgous plants. we love buying our plants there each year as it not only makes us happy but it helps to support the school system.
Everything is popping up all over the place. We have decided to build a small greenhouse this fall. It would be so much more fun to start all our plants ahead of time from seeds. we do start a lot of them now that way but this would really give us a headstart. The greenhouse is made from pvc and costs around a hundred dollars to make. I am excited about that one. should be lots of fun to put together.
My doll quilt has been quilted and I am just now finishing up the binding. I need to get busy on some of my other projects. I have been in one of my dulldrums lately. unforutunately I seem to get into these burn out periods that don't last too long but they are irritating just the same. I want to put together some applique blocks to take on the airplane with me in July when I go to see my daughter and grandkids. not too forget my son in law. Nobody could ask for a more perfect son in law then Bryan. he is such a good daddy and a good hubby to my dd.

Well you can tell its april around here" all the plants are comming to life and yestarday we had 92 degrees. There are only two drawbacks about living in N.C. one is that when it gets hot! It gets hot! Now thats not that bad because when I visited my daughter in Spokane last summer it was just as hot there as it was here . but the thing I hate the most are the bugs! I'm not talking about the creepy crawling types of bugs I am referring to the darn flyinggggggg bugs! The ones that bite! misquitoes and flys and the darn nats that are up close and in your face. It makes it absolutely miserible to be outside. Luckily they are not out there all summer long but enough to make you wish they weren't. They also have some nasty little things call chiggers here. The best I can gather is that they are some form of a sand flea" I say gather because you can't see the little buggers you just know there theyve been there later when your ankles and feet start itching.
Now for the good things. It is beautifull and soooooooooo green here that I love looking out into the yard from my windows. the flowers bloom most of the year here. and the birds are fantastic! we have the most beautifull red cardinals and these little tiny yellow and black birds that are soooooooo cute. we of course feed all of them plus the squirrels and they could very quickly eat you out of house and home.
Last nite I started a doll quilt for my granddaghter Casey. She will be one in may so it won't be long before she will need these things for her own baby doll.
I also worked on a dresdon quilt block" not sure how far I will go with it. I am a bit on the strange side. I have a tendency to get all excited about making a block and then by the time it is finished I am ready to tackle something else. you would not beleiveeeeeeee how many orfan blocks I have stacked up around here. one day I would like to put them together into quilts. and I probably will but not todayyyyyyy.

I have signed up for a swap and wanted to post it too my blogg so all of you who were interested could also sign up but for some reason when I copied it the whole thing did not come with it.so if you are interested look up Sew Prim Kris blogg" It is called a friendship swap and you come up with something for every letter of the word to send to your partner. It sounds like it will be fun! I have signed up and will have to make sure that I get shopping completed early because it is sent off in july and that is the month I will be in SPokane visiting with my little grandkids.
I have not been up to a lot of quilting lately. My grandsons quilt is up on my design board and is growing very slowly. I have been very busy out in the yard helping hubby get all the planting beds redone and putting in the vegitable gardens. Lucky for me" I just finished a weeks vacation so it was good that I was here to help him.
I love this time of year in N.C. it is nice outside, not too hot and all of the bugs are not out yet.
I have managed to get some baking done. I made several dozen honey butter rolls and froze them . then I made three loaves of bananna bread and frose two of those. So I haven't been idle by any means.
I have also managed to start a journal and sooooooooo far have stuck too it! I have started them in the past and somehow always gotten sidetracked but they really are sooooooo handy to look back on and see what happened when so I really am going to try and stick with it this time.

Am feeling a bit guilty because I have not written anything in my blogg lately. Between being sick with respiratory infections and work it seems Like my time gets soooooooooo limited. Of course if I would manage it a little better that might help.
Today was a great day at work because we are now off for the next ten days! yessssssssss! Working for the school district does have some bennefits. lols
My secret pal had my easter bag delivered to me today. There was a chocholate easter bunny, a bunny tin with candy, some shopping pads, some easter pot holders and a pretty easter colored dishtowel. I could get used to this secret friend bussiness! I had mine delivered this morning and it contained lots of cute scrapbooking things. She is into scrapbooking so she should enjoy them.

We have also been busy with the yard this time of year. The other day we bought flowers and hubby has been tilling the garden so that we can start planing veggies. I am sooooooooooo looking forward to eatting from the garden again! There is just something so good about eatting a cukecumber or zuchinnie and tomatoes from your own garden.

The other thing I have been up too is embroidery by hand. I am actually enjoying it. there are several sites with block of the month embroidery and I am slowly working on them. Hopefully I will get enough done to take some pictures one day soon.

My daughter called me and is going to start getting into geneiology. That made me a happy camper as that is something I had started to get into a few years ago. I soon became discouraged because both of my parents families are from norway. welllllllll it can get very complicated trying to get through the name changes, and not being able to write or speak norweigion made it even more difficult. Now however things have improoved and i think she will have a much better chance of finding out information. So I am excited to see what she will find out.

Well that is about all that is going on at the moment so I will stop for now and hopefully get back here more often.

Wow another fruitfull day! That makes two days in a row. I guess I am on a streak". I went to work on the miranda bag while trying to get my laundry done . It's back to work tomorrow.

This is normally my laundry day but I woke up thinking potato soup because the weather is very drizzly today. Welllllllll wouldn't you know it" no potatoes in the house sooooooooo we made a trip to the store. a hundred and something later we are on our way home again. Have you ever noticed that whenever you walk into wallmart you always spend around a hundred dollars? or is it just us? Anyway hubby decided he would make some of his clamchowder with potatoes. I knowwwwww I should have taken a picture of it. take my word " It was awsomeeeee! Then I retirid to my sewing room and started a little wristlet bag that I had found on one of my bloggs that I like to visit http://pinoyinoz.blogspot.com It was sooooooo simple " I love this pattern. picture included. Would you believe that I just now noticed that I forgot to add the little wrist strap". Oh wellllll this was just a practice run anyway.
I also read a post on one of my quilting sites that someone had taken your local little black bag that you buy at wallyworld for .99cents to carry your groceries in and she had added a piece of fabric on the front to cover up thier logo so that she could use it anywhere she shopped and personalize it so that it didn't look like everyone elses. I thought hmmmmm I can do that! So you guessed it" I also bought one of those on our wallmart trip this morning. Here is the picture of how that came out.
And last but not least I baked a loaf of bread from a recipe I found on the net. The only drawback is that they tell you to leave it over nite as the taste is much better. well we did and hubby says it is great! I of course have yet to eat any as I had to save all my energy for the soup. This bread recipe called for raisins and since hubby isen't the least bit fond of raisins I decided to use some chocholate raspberry chips that I had on hand. O.k. I guess that is about all I have been up to lately. still working on another bag and waiting for the mail to come so that I can get started on the one I posted about the summer bag. right now I have cut out fabric for the miranda bag. Hubby says that is just what I need is another bag! Take care

This is whacky wednsday! That is what they call it at school. The teachers all dress up in whacky clothing . pj's tops turned backwards. pants inside out" the kids just love it! Wish I had thought and would have taken my camera. maybe next time"
I convinced hubby that I needed to run to the fabric store yestarday to look for some summery type fabric for a bag I want to make to take with me when I fly back to Spokane this summer. Have any of you ever taken your hubbies inside a fabric store with you? welllllll let me tell you it can be quite the experience. Hubby kept following me around and asking me what I was looking for? well when I explained what I wanted he started pointing out this fabric and that fabric. I told him I will know it when I see it as it will hollar at me and sayyyyyyy take me home" He said will I be able to hear it hollar in case you don't? I cracked up! Mennnnnn ya gotta love em!
Anyway I did find the perfect flip flop material and a poka dot to go with it. I also wanted some yellow fabric for my pockets but got sidetracked getting a zipper and it completley slipped my mind. We finished shopping and then I took him out to Logans a local restaurant to eat. This place is so goodddddd It has the best food and atmosphere. They have a small metal bucket of peanuts on every table and you eat the peanuts while you are waiting for your order and throw the shells on the floor. they have a great fireplace in the middle of the room and they have windows surrounding the kitchen so that you can watch the chef cook your steaks. They also have yeast rolls made with honey that are to die for! I have decided that I need to get to the store and buy some yeast and some honey and make some myself. After that we returned home and I got a good start on my bag. everything is cut out but we have no joanns here and I need steam a seam 2 so have contacted my daughter to send me some. she is such a sweety!
Lets seeeeeeeeeeee what else have I been up too" ohhhhhhhhhh I have started a new quilt for my grandson Donald. The one I made for him years ago has apparently seen better days so I have started a square in a square quilt or at least I think that is what it is called. I will add a picture of some of the blocks. of course you know that when I add them they will go above the other picture. I hate that part of writting these bloggs. I wish they would go where they are supposed too.

Ahhhhhhhhhh the weekend!

Well here it is the weekend and you would think that would be the time to relax , lay around with a spot of tea and eat crumpits right? Not a chance" I have been going from the time I got up this morning. First I had to empty and clean the cat box. then I had to vaccum the bedroom and the bathroom which I usually let hubby do but clutsy me" spilled some of the litter so I wanted to get it up right away. After that it was off to the kitchen to start the laundry. Then I browned some pork chops and added them to the crockpot with all the goodies to make a nice gravy and some sliced potatoes. After that I decided to make up some of the minnie cheese cakes that I had found the recipe for on one of the bloggs " I knowwwwwwww you want to know the recipe" Well I will have to just tell you how to make it and what is in it because for some strange reason when I printed it out" there is no url at the bottom of the page. so here goes.

You take two 8 ounce pkgs. of cream cheese plus 2 eggs, 3/4 cups sugar, a teaspoon of vanilla and a teaspoon of lemon juice, mix all of that together in a mixing bowl. then take some cup cake holders and put into a cupcake pan. place a vanilla wafer in the bottom of each cup cake paper unless you want to be very daring and you can use an oreo on the bottom. which ever you use it is going to form your crust". Now you take your mixture and spoon it into the cups untill they are about 3/4" full. Now bake them in a preheated oven at 325 for about twenty minutes. pull them out and set them on a rack to cool. Once cooled open up a can of cherry or blueberry pie filling and spoon a little bit into the center of each cup. Now comes the hard part. put them into the fridgerator and let them cool for about two hours. Then you can take them out of their papers and arrange them on a plate and you have yourself a little piece of heaven. Hows that for a quick super easy yummmmmmmmmmy desert? I would like to thank whoevers blogg I got this off of but don't remember where it was. It is definately yummyyyyyyyyyyyy and very easy. I think it made around sixteen of them.

Besides that I managed to sew up a sewing bag for my buddy in Spokane. She likes pastels but I think once she sees this adorable sewing fabric she will like it anyway.

Other then that" all I managed to do was housework. tomorrow I will have to get to the kitchen floor yuckkkkkkkkkkk why can't I be rich and have a housecleaner and a workout trainer ect. Oh well back to reality. hope your day was as fun as mine was.

Is it just me" Or do any of you wonder where in the heck the time goes! I swear maybe its my age but it seems like time is flying by much too quickly!

It seems we are always going somewhere and there is just never enough time to do what I like to do. I did manage to stay up untill eleven last nite and get an eye mask and a an eye glass case made for my granddaughter kloe. She recently got new glasses and I have wanted to make her a new glass case ever since but just didn't get around too it. She also has migranes so I thought one of those eye masks would help to keep the light out of her eyes and might make her a little more comfortable. I hate seeing my grandkids in pain and would much rather go through it myself .

I also managed to get into my hairstylist today and get a much needed haircut. Don't you just hate it when your hair is hanging down your neck! I wore my hair long for most of my life and just recently decided that I needed to start wearing it short. welllllllllll I was always told that once you started wearing short hair you would probably never go back to long again. I think they were right because I tried too and it has been driving me crazzy.

We had something happen at work today that everyone who was born here is used too and I of course had no idea"''' As most of you know I work for the school system. I was in the kitchen preparing for lunch when someone came over the loudspeaker and announced that there had been a tonado warning. well I said guess if I hurry I can make it home. everyone laughed and said Linda you can't outrun a tornado. someone said why would you want to try. and I said welllllll if I am going to die I would rather be with someone I love" Wellllllllllllllllll one of my good cooking buddies Namely my boss says wellllllllllll that tells you what she thinks of us! I laughed and said ahhhhhhhhhhh I love you guys too but its just not the same! Anyway then I went to use the phone because I suddenly remembered that I had forgotten to call my beauty operator for a hair cut. One of the girls was listening in thinking I was calling my hubby to tell him I loved him and she went back and told everyone that I was in there calling my hairstlyist. That brought more laughter. O.k. it isen't over yet! A little bit later anouncer came over the loudspeaker and said there is a tonado in the area please proceed to your designated area nowwwwwww. well we all headed to the pantry and while we are sitting there amongst the pans, and boxes of cereal , ect, ect. I made the comment wellllll this is a heck of a place to be if a hurricane hits we are going to get hit in the head by all this flying debree". Everyone agreed and we discussed other things. Well I made the comment How soon will we know if it has passed? Welllllllllllll let me tell you everyone started laughingggggggggggg you see unknown to me" This is a drill that is performed every march several times because of tonado season. Nowwwww you knowwwwwww that I am never ever going to live this one down.

Once I got home I did manage to go to get my hair cut and she did a fantastic job. Don't you just love it when you find a great hairdresser! O.k. I am off to read a few emails and hopefully get some more sewing in. take care and have fun!

new cake plate"

Awhile back I posted a picture of a cake plate that we made using a cheapie plate and bowl from wallmart. well it would have been cute except that the texture of the bowl made the plate lean in one direction. Anyway I finally managed to get to a thrift store and found two pretty flowered plates for .50 cents each. I also found a candlestick that was perfect to put unterneath the cake plate.

I am thinking these could become habbit forming.! Not a good thing for someone like me that lives in a veryyyyyyyy small house!

Wow two days in a row! This is very unusual for me" If I keep this up" I may have to try and keep a diary again. I will say one thing about keeping a blogg, It does keep you going with your projects. I have noticed that in the back of my mind I am always thinking what am I going to post to my blogg today. Yestarday I finally got off the computer and headed to my file folder to look for something and before you know it" I am sidetracked by a cat pattern. Do any of you ever get that way? I used to tease my girlfriend Judy about doing that. She is a few years older then I am" and every time she would start going through a box or whatever to find something she would get completely sidetracked by other things she would find to the point that she completely spaced out what she was looking for in the first place. WEllllllllllll I am beginning to think this must be one of the side effects of old age! At any rate I am so farrrrrrrrrr still remembering what it was I was looking for in the first place but have a tendency to get very excited about an entirely different project that I come across. This was the case yestarday. I found a cat pattern that I had completely forgotten I had and for some unknown reason I just hadddddd to make it up. I have also made up something that I have wanted to make up for the longest time. Somewhere I saw a reference to creating a color wheel with your fabrics and I loveeeeeeeee it! They are so much fun to make. I made mine out of the dresdon plate designs and am in the process of appliquing it down now. I sat in my easy chair last nite stitching away and it is almost done. Will have to think of something to put around it so that it can be more of a wall hanging for my sewing room. nowwwwwww where to find space to hang it! well I had better go do something with my hair. hubby seems to think that its time we went to the grocery store to get some groceries. We have both decided that we need to start eating lighter and right now what is in our kitchen definately does not qualify! take care untill next time.

Well here it is sunday and I am being lazy sitting around in my pj's. I have been on the computer for most of the morning and I did manage to make up some of the raggedy coasters that I found the pattern for the other day. http://www.lovetosew.com/

They aren't quite as raggady as they should be but the four inch heart that they call for is a bit too large. Next time I make some I will use a little bit smaller heart so that I have a deeper fringe in the end. All in All they are very simple and fun to make. I think they would make great christmas gifts with christmas fabrics or neat valentine gifts if I had seen them in time to make them. (story of my life). I am trying to decide what to do next on my list. I have so many unfinished projects laying around. I have several of the pirmitive emb. designs printed out and ready to add to fabric. I found that I had a embroidery transfer book from several years ago that I had bought at a dimestore and it has lots of very cute emb. patterns. Speaking of primitive I received an email today from someone that thought I was demeaning hand emb as some kind of old persons art by calling the designs primitive. Believe me that couldn't be farther from the truth. I am oldddddddddddd myself! The big 60 is justttttttttttt around the corner. What I mean by primitive is the type of designs. They are very plain primitive in style. So lets not let this get out of hand folks. I am about as primitive as they get".

Joanns has a free bag pattern that is made up of double quilted fabric and is veryyyyyy cute! I am thinking about making one up. First of all I will have to get back to town and see if I can find some material that I like. I do have a piece I bought just recently but it is black and if I make one I would like to take it with me to Spokane when I go in July. Somehow the old standards are still whispering in my ear that you don't wear black in the spring or summer . Funny how those things stick with us. Do any of you remember hearing your mother say make sure your underware is clean in case you get into an accident and they have to take you to the hospital. Tell meeeeeeeeee where did that ever come from? Was my mother the only one that ever did that! Like anyone is going to be worrying about their underware if they are in an ambulence on the way to the hospital. Darnnnnnnnnn it! those of you who heard this growing up are just like me" and that will be the first thing that comes to mind once you are conscience again (is my underware in good condition?) O.k. my mind is really wandering now so I think that I had better go find something productive to do. take care and I hope that I have in some small way given you something to think about. Hee hee

Another thing I have recently gotten back into and haven't done for yearssssssss is hand embroidery" yeah you heard it right! Can you beleive I have two perfectly good embroidery machines sitting here and I am resorting to handdddddd embroidery" Well blame it on the bloggs. In my surfing of the bloggs I have run into sooooooooo many adorable primative type embroidery designs and there is just something so sweet about them. It brings me back to my childhood and watching my mother embroider by hand. I had a hope chest with lots and lots of pillowcases that had been embroidered by hand which I gave to my sweet daughter. She of course also owns and embroidery machine. Anyway I really am enjoying this so may just have to keep it up. I found this adorable love pattern on one of those bloggs. I knowwwwww I forgot to write down the name of it but if you go to Happy zombi blogg I believe there is a link to it there or on one of her bloggers. sorry I really should be more organized but organization skills seem to illude me no matter how hard I try. lols ohhhhhhhhhhhh I think it may have been bunny hills blogg but not entirely sure. I absolutely loveeeeeeee saturdays! It is the one day that I am reasonably sure that I will be home sewing and playing on the computer. The reason for this is saturday is my laundry day so no running around yessssssssssssss Boy am I getting oldddddddddd or what! Can't believe I just said that! Anyway We had thursday off at work because it snowed. Can you believe it? Being a northerner I am not use to these north carolinians closing everything down for a couple of inches of snow. lols Anyway I am not complaining as I managed to get some sewing done. Both then and today. Have you heard of the pennie pockets yet? They were designed by The happy zombie blogg and they are soooooooo cute. we used to call them may baskets I think" when we were kids. you make these cute little pockets and you put something in them" candy, flowers, ect. and you hang them on someones doorknob. I managed to finish several of them. I need to get some little heart chochoaltes to put inside of one of these for my secret pal at work.

Hi everyone" Hope you are having as much fun sewing and creating as I am." Today is saturday so I can play while I am doing the laundry ect. I managed to finish two of the doll quilts I have been working on. And I have two others in the making.

The other two are going to be done in 4 1/2" squares. these two were done in 2 1/2" squares. I think the larger go muchhhhhhhhh faster and I have several more to make. I still have pillows and pillow cases to make along with some doll carrier beds. Everyone thinks that I spoil my grandkids but if theirs lived as far away from them as mine do they would spoil them too. I am so looking forward to seeing them again in July. I cannot hardly believe that my youngest granddaughter is going to be 14 months old ! I will really have to spoil that one so that she remembers her granny.

Today I had intended on posting a cake plate that we made from a blogg idea somewhere" you take a plate and a bowl and you turn the bowl upside down and lay your plate over the top. This really does make an adorable cake plate! but I happend to stop by wallmart yestarday and picked up a set that had a swirl design on them so for some reason the plate didn't sit as evenly as it should have so back to the drawing board. When you use these permanent glues there is no second chance to get it right.

Well I am off to work some more on another doll quilt. Will try and post again before long. take care untill we meet again.

coaster swap

I joined a coaster swap in a group that I bleong too called sewgoodfriends and I received my packages in todays mail.

From Dee I received four coasters ,a beautifull lace bookmark and some bobin bikinies. I had never seen these before but they look very interesting and I can see where they would keep your bobins in place.

From Fliesha I received four coasters, a nice card and some blackberry tea yummmmmmmm

Today I tried my very first snaphappy bag pattern yesssssssssssssssssss these are sooooooo simple and so much fun to make. Other then the time it takes to cut and trim and tape the tape measurer it is really a snap to make and they are sooooooo cute!

Well we are home from the hospital and all is well once again. He had two areas that were about thirty percent clogged but no need for a stent or surjury. they have to be at least 80% before they can do anything like that. They are going to change his medication and see if that won't stop the pains he has been having.

It snowed six inches here in N.C. so we didn't have school today. It always amazes me that everything closes down for even a couple of inches of snow. comming from snow country that is hard to understand. Anyway I am not complaining because when the schools shut down I stay home yessssssssss. Since I was home I went blogg surfing and found a monthly snowman pattern. This is offereed by ellie and I am addign her blogg to the right hand side of my blogg so that you can go over and get your own snowman pattern. She will be creating one each month. she already has several pictures in her gallery and they are sooooooo cute.

I will also add a picture of our snow I had to take pictures as no body will ever believe me. lols Take care and above all else have fun! you never know what tomorrow will bring.

Well this is saturday a typical laundry day. yuckkkkkkkkkk not a lot of fun in doing the laundry so I try and sew inbetween loads. This morning I managed to finish two ruffle skirts for the granddaughters Kaylee and Kristina. Last nite I made a mixer cover for my daughter kerrie.'

Will add the pics and hopefully they will go in the correct order. not sure why but whenever I write in this blogg and enter pics they go in backwards from the way I entered them.

Not a lot going on today other then sewing. I think I might look for some fabric and make a mixer cover for our kitchen. I am always making things for others and never quite get around to making them for myself. I think all of us sewers have that problem. Maybe we should make a list of projects and actually stick too it. What a novel idea" I think I might just try that. It would be nice to be orgainize. I actually belong to a couple of groups that are supposed to keep me organized. I do manage to get more accomplished but I am beginning to think that some of us are orgainized and some are not. I seem to prefer the spur of the moment!

The birds are arriving back in North Carolina. They don't seem to stay away for very long. I love sitting here at the computer in my sewing room and watching them out the window. we have invested in several bird feeders as they are sooooooo pretty and we love watching them. It amazes me just how much food the little buggers go through! One of my neighbors has fifteen outside cats and at least three of them think of our yard as their yard. They love to sit under the bird feeders and just wait for a chance to jump at them. Have you ever actually watched a cat jump after a bird? Let me tell you these little buggers can jump highhhhhhhh. Now I realize that animals operate by supply and demand and it is the natural order of things for cats to eat birds but I have to say " even though I love my indoor cat! I am cheering for the birds. Luckily it is very seldom that they manage to catch one. It won't be long before we will be getting ready to plant a garden again. I swear I don't know where all the time goes. speaking of time" I had better get back to sewing " take care untill we meet again.

Hi its me again" I just finished a baby quilt that I needed to donate to the local quilt guild. That makes me feel good because it is one less unfinished project in my sewing room. Now there are only about 99 left. Welllllllll maybe not quite that many. I have two projects on the ironing board right now. One is an applique block that I want to take along to the hospital next week. Hubby has to have a catherization. He had a small heart attack a few months ago (If there is such a thing) Anyway they put him on pills to slow his heart down. Well He has not been feeling all that good and the pills aren't doing as much for him so he decided it was time to go back in. We will go in tuesday afternoon its a sixty mile drive and then they will do the proceedure wednsday morning. Hopefully everything is o.k. and we will head back the same day. If not " if he needs another stent or anything else then it will be longer. Buttttttt I digress" The other projects are some ruffle skirts for my granddaughters Kaylee and Kristina. They are going to loveeeeeee these. I owe many thanks to a certain cyber buddy for the pattern. Thanks Jeannie!

Life goes on""""

Well the hollidays are over with and life goes on. Took hubby into Greenville yestarday to see a cardiologist. They are going to do a catherization on him to see if he needs another stent. There is never a dull moment around our house. I get soooooooooo tirid of worrying about one person or another. I wish that life could just go along at an even keel with no worries. But I guess that is just not too be. That being said I am glad he is getting this proceedure done because the pain is comming from some where and with his heart history the chances are that there is a reason for it. Will just have to leave it in Gods capable hands and hope for the best.

My daughter lives in Spokane and they have had sooooooooooo much snow! It has all started to melt now and freeze. That is going to be a real problem there for some time I am afraid". They are not used to getting that much snow and there have been bussinesses collapsing due to the weight of the snow.

I am still working on all my crafts inbetween working and doctor visits. hopefully I will be able to post a few soon. My problem is that there are just wayyyyyyyy too many things that I want to accomplish. I try to work on smaller projects as I haven't been able to handle the larger ones for some time now. I love making wall quilts, and have recently gotten into minnie quilts. Helps to keep my mind and body busy. Have recently aquired some cute little bag patterns that I would like to complete " also some scissor holders and needle keepers. Do any of you get addicted to going from blogg to blogg? I have gotten so addicted to looking at different projects. I loveeeeeee these bloggs! Especially all the great tutorials. The only downside is that I seem to spend more time looking then actually completeing! wellllllll will close for now and hopefully be back soon with some good news. "

Christmas Day!

Well here it is Christmas Day and before you know it we will be taking the tree down and putting everything away. I hope everyone had a great Christmas. Ours was good! And could only have been better if (you know this by nowwwwwww My grandkids were here). They have been getting tons of snow! Our weather couldn't be more different then theirs. Its warm and drizzling outside here.

My daughter sent pics of the grandkids in their outfits that grandma got them for christmas, Kristina has the monkey that I got her and Kaitlin is holding her toy and bears that I made her. Daniel of course is sporting the shirts granny got him. My daughter says he is difficult to buy for but granny has his number haaaaaaaaa And the other photos are the great grandsons that were here for christmas eve. Just a short post as I am due at the son in laws for christmas dinner so have to get ready. take care and merry christmas too everyone!
